(review) Strike Anywhere-Nightmares of the West(Pure Noise Records)

992491

Strike Anywhere are back with their new e.p., the first new release in more than a decade. Virginia punks from Richmond deliver what we need in these times of racism, segregation, murder, hatred, corruption and apathy. They deliver energetic, melodic and angry hardcore with melody and emotion, so hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.

There are six new songs plus one cover of Blocko on this record and the only thing I really wish is that the record was longer and that the guys deliver full album. I never saw these guys play live, I was going to this Summer at Punk Rock Holiday, but that epidemic shit stole our festivals for this year, so hopefully next year I will correct that mistake.

Considering the songs on this record, somehow the most anthemic and the ones that worked best for me are Documentary, fast song, also Dress The Wounds, but THE best song for me, that I listened all over again and again is The Bells, just perfect song for singing along and waving your fist in the air, I hope the guys will include it in their setlist on tour next year. That doesn´t mean that other songs are less good, those are just my personal favorites. Welcome back, Strike Anywhere, what a comeback!

(review) End of Pipe-Mass Hysteria

South American scene never ceases to amaze me with so many bands coming out every day and releasing super music to the world. End of Pipe are from Brasil and this is their new record.

There are 10 songs on this record. The music is punkrock, heavily influenced by skatepunk and melodic hardcore. The lyrics are in English and they are pretty good, bordering on the edge of personal and politics. I love the vocals, the singer reminds a lot of Pennywise singer Jim with the colour of the voice. I love more uptempo, faster songs, although this is not your typical skatepunk fast forward band, this is clever and well arranged song rhythm and great emotional melodies in guitar riffs, super vocals and anthemic choruses, topped with smart lyrics, you get a great record. Recommended songs: The Secret, 80 Shots, Memories.

(review) Padme-The Fine Line Between Being Conscious And Self Harm

Wow! I think Padme are the first band from Turkey to grace the pages of this zine. They recently released their brand new, third studio album. It features 12 songs and I was blown away how energetic and fast this record really is. This is hardcore punk, but leaning more on speed and anger, although there is enough melody in the songs to call it melodic hardcore. The lyrics are great, being a fine mixture of political and personal. I love the sound of this band, it reminds me of all those old school Californian bands like Circle Jerks, old TSOL and similar, even Verbal Abuse, yet with great dose of progressive, even fresh touch of song arranging. Speed breaks into atmospheric and melodic parts only to return to relentless hardcore punk. The vocals are awesome, being shouted yet sung nicely at the same time and the musicianship is phenomenal. This record is really a discovery! My favorite songs: Crossing The Line, Can`t Catch Me, 17.
