(record review)TAIWAN BALEK-“Waiting For Growing Up”

France gave many excellent bands and records in the history of its scene, this band is one who will yet make history. Taiwan Balek are melodic hardcore punk band from Toulon, France and I listened and reviewed their new record for this webzine.

The record contains 6 songs of melodic and highly energetic hardcore punk. “No Arms, No Candles” is a fast 90-ies reminding song, with great harmonic melodies. “At Morning” and “Daisy” offer excellent mix of faster melodic parts mixed with atmospheric emotional parts in between. For me, the best song on this record is No Use For A Name sounding “Digital Soul”, punkrock song that had a strong impact on me as a listener being an anthem that I wished I wrote. “Minx” and “Big Box” continue in the song structure as the first third of the record and finish it leaving you wanting for more. That means, good record! Not something new, not something unheard of, but hey, it´s melodic punk and it˙s good, so get it and give it a chance or two!

(record review)ANTI-LAM FRONT-“Tidlig Anti-Lam Front”(Big Day Records)

Norway is besides being on of the most developed and beautiful European countries, known mostly by black metal but there are couple of bands that prove Norway also has awesome punk hardcore scene and Anti-Lam Front is one of them. This is their new record out on Big Day Records and I listened to it and reviewed it for this webzine.

cover

The album contains 15 songs and boy, are they excellent! The music is fast, ultra melodic and energetic skatepunk hardcore. I loved every single second of this album! The vocals are a bit rough but melodic and combined with second more melodic voice and harmonies it gives the listener the ultimate melodic punk hardcore perfection! The music reminds me of best Lagwagon, NUFAN and Propagandhi moments mixed in one patchwork with a life of its own! Believe me, this stuff makes me wanna jump all over my living room and laugh and mosh and jump again and sing in Norwegian! Yes, the lyrics are in Norwegian and I don` t know what are they about, but this language is just awesome for such music because it adds a kind of drama in the songs that you can only find in melodic punk hardcore and which gives goosebumps to my skin! All of the songs are great but I can say that “Fineste Donald ” and “Sirkelmoralisme” are in my opinion somehow the best of the best on this record! Get this one! You won˙t regret it!

(record review)RELIANCE-“Crashing down e.p.”

In the sea of today´s bands on the great world underground punk scene it is hard to sound great and not to be anyone´s clone or people would tell you so. RELIANCE from Arizona, USA are one of the bands that sound excellent and energetic and I was lucky to listen to their new e.p. and review it for this webzine.

cover

The e.p. contains 6 songs of high quality melodic punk hardcore skatepunk with nice mixture of slower punkrock songs and faster hardcore material just made for moshing at the gigs. The sound of the record is awesome and it was mixed by none other than legendary Bill Stevenson. The lyrics of the songs are a nice mix of personal and politically engaged songs, I don´t have lyricsheet so I had to listen hard hehe.  Vocals are important for me in this kind of music, so I always listen carefully to the singers and this singer is just excellent, great voice sounds to me kinda like Jim Lindberg of Pennywise, and the backing vocals harmonies are nicely done, too! This is a really nice record. Top songs: “Broken Bottles”, “Crashing Down”.
