(news) Arcane Ghosts Rage With Friends at a Canada Day House Party in New Music Video “Rooftops”; ‘Human Interference’ EP Out Now!

Screen_Shot_2019-08-23_at_11.19.24_AM

Originally conceived over a couple of beers in the heart of university town Kitchener-Waterloo, Brampton based Arcane Ghosts combines raw emotion and math skills to create a post-hardcore meets pop-punk sound that should strike a chord with fans of Dance Gavin Dance, I The Mighty and Movements. After releasing their first EP in 2017, Arcane Ghosts went on to support Rarity, Heavy Hearts, and Certainty, and play Blackout Fest 2017 with The Creepshow and illScarlett. Their newest EP, ‘Human Interference’, is now available on all platforms.

The band has just released a new music video for the single “Rooftops” which can be viewed here:

While the video finds the guys and their friends having the time of their lives at a backyard Canada Day rager, the band tells Substream that the song itself is actually about something entirely different, explaining, “Rooftops is about that show where nothing is going right. Whether it’s you’re out of tune, or off time, or your bass player is playing the wrong part, everyone’s been there.”

(record review) SQUARE SHAPES-After The Fact(People Of Punk Rock Records)

cover

Remember Square Shapes? We did the review for their last record in our zine. Now, they have a new full length record out with People Of Punk Rock Records.

What I love about this band is that they do not complicate things in their music and the song structures. They rather play old school no holds barred fast and melodic 90-ies influenced skatepunk/hardcore with fast drums, melodic vocals and backing vocal harmonies, catchy guitar riffs, anthemic choruses made for singalong and overall great vibe on their record. This 15 new songs are just made for you to feel better and smile when listening to the music which really saves and makes your day great. The songs I would recommend to you among others as the highlights of the record are: Cobalt, Visualize, Trying to find you and Wanted more. This is a great record and I am happy how this band progressed and became even better since their last record.

(record review) QUESTION MARK-Inner Call

a1796342527_10

Dutch hardcore punk band Question Mark have a new record out. There are 15 songs on this record and I can safely say concerning the music of this band that this is not your typical skatepunk but a mixture of quality fast melodic punk, hardcore, smart lyrics and even some rock n roll undertones underneath it all. At least that is how I hear it. The opener Brickwall is fantastic song structure of above mentioned, making the record sweet and interesting. Hierarchy has a catchy start melody played in unusual way turning into straightforward hardcore punk anthemic song. This band found a way how to handle and play new school of melodic hardcore punk with a respectful nod towards the old masters. One of the songs that I must also mention as highlight of the album is Fail to rise, with catchy nice guitar main melody and being a very cool song. Super guitar harmonies of Back from the dead will sure make your day better and bring a bit of goosebumps on your skin. I will not write here about all of the songs, because the beauty of underground punk hardcore scene lays in discovering your own new favorite bands and favorite songs for yourself. I am total fan of this band and I am sure glad I discovered them.
