Dear Youth are Canadian melodic punk quintet formed in 2015. They are based in Montreal area. This is their new e.p. out on Anchor Eighty Four and I listened and reviewed it for this webzine.

I said it before and I will say it again here. I love, no, not love, adore Canadian punk hardcore scene. So many awesome bands, labels, friendly people. Now, this e.p. contains 5 songs. The music Dear Youth play is a fine mixture between melodic punkrock, emo, pop punk and hardcore. The songs vary and are in no way boring and not a second of this record becomes dull while listening. From emotional punkrock mid tempo melodies of “Fair Warning” to faster stuff like “Await the Sobering” the emotions and the melody take over me as a participating listener and transport me to some otherwordly dimension, full of sadness, nostalgia, but also hope and smile. I love this record. It reminds me of the shiny Summer days of my youth and puts a smile on my face. Therefore, awesome record!

Italy has a great hardcore punk scene and from Piedmont comes Koseakaso, melodic hardcore band and I listened their new release and reviewed it for this webzine.

I love melodic punk, melodic hardcore and skatepunk, but in the end isn´t it all punkrock? This record contains 9 songs of melodic hardcore punk with a strong bow to the 90-ies punkrock scene, especially from California, but one can hear and a bit of modern technical stuff, like for example the metallish part in “Ricominciare”. Also, there are some ska song structures like in “La spinta”. All of the lyrics are in Italian language and I read them while listening to the album, but my knowledge of Italian is just not so good that I could understand everything what is being sung. I learned to love punkrock sung in Italian by listening to the mighty Derozer, Kalashnikov and Four Flying Dicks to name just a few excellent Italian punk bands that I have listened to in the last twenty years. Italian is so melodic language and in my opinion fits perfectly into melodic punk music. One of the songs I also loved on this record is “Citalopram” having an excellent melody just made to please my ears. In the end, I my advice to you is, get this album, give it a spin and discover this wonderful band!
