(record review)BODYJAR-“Terra Firma”

cover

Because of its longivity for now almost over twenty years, Australian veterans Bodyjar hailing from Melbourne deserve the uttermost love and respect. Ripping through stages on every continent they earned themselves a strong and big legion of fans.

This is their new e.p. containing 4 songs and it is awesome. The e.p. has something for every profile of punk rock fans. From the more rockish pure punkrock songs like “Get it Right” to high energetic octane fueled hardcore punk bombs like “Elon Musk” and emotional heartfelt “Burning it down for nothing”, this e.p. is a little chest of melodic punkrock treasure for you to discover. Awesome! 8/10

(record review)THE LILLINGTONS-“Stella Sapiente”(Fat Wreck Chords)

Cover

Who could have thought that after the pause of 11 years that THE LILLINGTONS could not only come back, but release one of the best melodic punkrock albums this year. Released under the wings of Fat Wreck Chords, this album contains 12 songs.

The new material is in my opinion a bit different from the old stuff, the song structures are a bit more complicated and I think that the band brought some new influences in their songmaking. The opener “Golden Dawn/Knights Templar” just blew me away. It might be only me, but I heard some NWOBHM influences in “Insect Nightmares”. Also, I heard some of The Misfits in “London Fog”. The mainman Kody sings better than ever and the anthemic choruses and harmonies on the backing vocals made goosebumps on my skin. The opening melody of “Zodiac” is outstanding and this song is absolutely one of the highlights on this album that has no weak spot. I would love and I am hoping that I will catch these guys live somewhere somehow. Definitely a winner!

(record review)THE REGENT-“Political Fiction”(Melodic Punk Style)

Believe  it or not, Norway is not only black metal country, THE REGENT are living proof that there are excellent bands there apart from black metal for which Norway is known for.

cover

The Regent just released their debut record called “Political Fiction” on Melodic Punk Style and it consists of 8 songs. They play melodic skatepunk hardcore with a very technical and skillfull edge, it is very evident that these guys really handle their intruments well. In my opinion, they reminded me on Propagandhi, being very political and straightforward which is a good thing lyrically.

The music is very energetic, the song structures are made of many interesting parts that hold your ears locked on listening the whole time this album plays.

If you like your punk hardcore melodic, energetic, well played and with excellent political lyrics, get this record!
