Time for another band from my home country scene, Croatia. Hailing from capitol, Zagreb, Inciter have been in the scene for more than twenty years now. This is their fifth full length opus and it contains 8 songs. When listening to Inciter, one can not escape comparisons to early Metallica glory days, when legends wrote albums to which I grew up to. Inciter plays a mixture of early, energetic eighties thrash metal, like it was played in Bay Area, but also add melody through NWOBHM influences with melodic solos, some anthemic guitar riffs and hooks, but also adding speed and energy of early hardcore punk influences here and there, thus creating one very excellent listening. Vocals also remind a lot of James Hetfield, not to copy the legend, but the color of voice and way of pronouncing words are similar with Metallica too. But, there are also some modern thrash and street wise influences in guitar grooves in couple of songs, thus remaining in this century with a respectful nod towards old masters. My personal favorites are Against The Grain, Better Off Dead, Dreamcatcher although it is an instrumental song, Until We Meet Again. This is a great album, go listen and support your local scene.
Italian Progressive Metal project GEOMETRY OF CHAOS has signed with Wormholedeath a licensing deal for the reissue of “Soldiers of the New World Order”. The album will be re-released on April 29th, 2022.
GEOMETRY OF CHAOS creates music that is dynamic, progressive, ambient, melodic, and wild.“Soldiers of the New World Order” represents an engaging and compelling, wide-ranging experience, with shifting atmospheres and sensations. It is not a pleasant journey; it demands focus and identification, as well as a disposition to mood swings. The album is a concept; in fact, the historical time and contemporary global condition are intertwined throughout the tracks. The context is that of a New World Order, a single government not too obscure that manipulates and controls everything from the economy and politics to people’s lives. This is a totally different situation than our reality, because in the album, people are aware that they serve only in the interest of strangers and that their freedom is fake . The awareness is different, however there is a feeling of helplessness and resignation, that make them accept this condition of ‘slavery’.’ According to Fabio La Manna, “there is a significant association between man, soldier, and robot in the Album, characters that become nearly blurry, because the orders imposed on them make them almost totally devoid of their own will ”.
GEOMETRY OF CHAOS is the new project from Fabio La Manna, mainly guitarist, bassist, keyboardist and writer of the music and lyrics, and Davide Cardella, drummer and much more . The project is the fusion of his solo work and what remains of Alchemy Room band, in their last period with Davide on drums. La Manna have released the first album for Geometry of Chaos, with Davide Cardella on drums as part of the band, and other guest members as vocalists : Marcello Vieira, Ethan Cronin and Elena Lippe. Their sound is modern, influenced by genres such as progressive metal, classic rock, progressive rock, and cinematic elements. “Soldiers Of The New World Order” will be re-released via Wormholedeath worldwide.
Spiral Staircase’s themes are the contemporaneity of the past, present, and future, as well as the non-collocability of time. The protagonist is trapped in a situation that he does not comprehend yet is very real to him. Under this highly technological and scientific drift, this man feels lost, living in an absolutist regime in which his own experience loses its temporality. He hears voices in his head, possibly through some device that manipulates and confuses him,” Fabio La Manna explains.
Prvi puta sam čuo za Crowbar kada je jedan moj frend sredinom devedesetih išao u Ljubljanu na koncert Paradise Lost koji su tada (i danas su) bili veliki bend sa Draconian Times albumom i turnejom, a predgrupa su im bili nama nepoznati Amerikanci Crowbar. Kako tada nije bilo interneta, nisi mogao baš saznati o čemu se radi. Uglavnom, frend se vratio oduševljen s giga noseći duge rukave majicu Crowbar, koja je izgledala odlično. Oduševljeno nam je pričao o tome kako je predgrupa ubila glavnu grupu svojim nekim kako je rekao čudnim doomom, žestokim, a punim melodije i na momente hardcore punk udarima, a da je vokal Kirk svojim glasom i načinom pjevanja pojava. Tada smo naručili cd Crowbar – Crowbar/Live+1 i od onda je povijest.
Eto, skoro trideset godina poslije, ovi teškaši iz New Orleansa se javili novim, dvanaestim po redu albumom, prvim u šest godina. Ovdje imamo 10 pjesama odličnog sludge metala, zvuka iz New Orleansa, koji miješa melodiju, močvarni bayou doom i hardcore punk agresivu, jednom riječju sludge. Tekstovi su puni depresije i borbe s unutarnjim demonima, kao i beznađem, odrazom vremena i životnih bitaka. Ovdje ima brzine hardcore punk napada u Bleeding From Every Hole, koja je jedan od mojih osobnih favorita. No, tu je i doom žestina, kao u odličnoj The Fear That Binds You, a moji osobni favoriti su također nježnije atmosferične Confess To Nothing(moja preporuka!), te Denial Of The Truth, kao i naslovna stvar. Ovo je jedan od jačih albuma ovog benda, sigurno u top pet po mom skromnom mišljenju. Odlično!
