Not to be confused with famous Misfits horrorpunk evergreen, this Hammer Horror is a bit different than their other stuff, because it is really a thriller rather than horror with religious fanaticism, madness and drama coming your way. The screenplay was again written by Richard Matheson, based on the novel by Anne Blaisdell and directed by Silvio Narizzano. Patricia Caroll(Stefanie Powers) travels to the countryside to visit mother of her late boyfriend, but little does she know that Mrs Trefoile(Tallulah Bankhead) is in fact a crazy religious fanatic who traps Patricia with help of her servants and is ready to torture her physically and mentally to have her revenge for the death of her son. As I said, this one is no horror, rather a very intense psychological thriller with both main actors just fantastic especially Tallulah Bankhead whose Mrs Trefoile is one diabolic crone set to get hers and will stop at nothing. This is one of the gems of house Hammer, just confirming why Hammer horror is one of my favorite horror subgenre.

(movie) Shudder´s Glorious(2022) is an interesting psychodelic horror idea.
Shudder somehow became trademark for quality horror lately and this is really an interesting idea made into movie. Ryan Kwanten of True Blood fame stars in this one as Wes, guy who just came through painful breakup with Brenda(Sylvia Grace Crim) and he travels along highway and he himself does not know where. Wes stops at a little rest stop and drinks himself to oblivion as he burns Brenda´s and his stuff and passes out. When he comes to, he runs to toilet to puke and realizes he is locked inside with a voice coming from glory hole(J.K. Simmons is brilliant as a voice). That voice presents itself as god Ghat and asks favor of Wes, then things start to complicate. Well, this maybe doesn´t sound promising or inviting but you gotta watch this one, believe you me. This is practically a one man movie, with couple of actors appearing in couple of minutes but Kwanten did a hell of a job with this one. I love how psychodelic parts collide with mindfuck and cosmic horror in this one. This is a good movie. Directed by Rebekah McKendry.
(movie) The Fear Footage(2018) is an anthology found footage horror!
Director/writer Ricky Umberger managed to create a superb movie with little budget but great story. This is an anthology horror done in found footage style, not unlike some of the V/H/S sequels. Story goes around deputy Leo Cole who vanished without trace while investigating a house that was demolished but reappeared. The footage is from his body cam. While investigating the house Leo watched couple of segments of this anthology movie. In almost every anthology horror, there is one or couple of fillers, but not in this one. All of the segments are interesting, gory, from creepy clown story, across cultists to abandoned demonic church in the woods, all of them just rule. The overall wrapping up of the main story is also done great and left me wanting for more. This proves how little money you need if you have a great story and know your horror. Hats off!
