(review) We Too, Will Fade – Everything Falls Apart As It Should

Now, this is a discovery! Munich based band We Too, Will Fade have a new release out and I am so glad I got this one and discovered another beautiful band to listen day after day.

This release is an e.p. of a sort containing three songs. The music of We Too, Will Fade can be described as melodic hardcore with some noise and post hardcore influences in the song structure. My Dying Friend is a song whose lyrics hit me right in the eye and made it wet with screaming vocals turning into beautiful melodies, rolling drums and atmospheric parts thrown in for good measure. What I love about this record is besides great music, so poetic and nice lyrics such I didn´t find in this kind of hardcore for a long time now. ITried My Best is a song with most heavy and sombre atmosphere for me, being somehow the most dark song on the record music wise and lyric wise, yet retaining a kind of hope in life and beauty. This one even has some really fast parts thrown in the smart written song structure, like it takes you to some other acoustic dimension. The title song is a short but sweet miniature that takes brings you back from journey and makes you want more.

(review) Second Arrows-Second Arrows(Hellminded Records)

Second Arrows could be called kind of super group. They are featuring current members of Deadguy and former members of Every Time I Die among others. But this band in no way lives on old glory of other musical projects. No, on the contrary. This new record they are releasing with Hellminded Records is one of the heaviest and noisiest releases of 2020.

What we get here are eight songs of noisy hardcore, with one leg being in hardcore punk roots of the members, the other leg sinking into sludgecore and noise. The vocals are shouted, screamed, also at times with some electronic effect and whisperes, depends on the mood of the song. The guitar riffs are apocalyptic, almost like announcing the end of the world and no hope, the whole vibe of the record is dirty, gritty, raw with some occasional hidden melody underneath it all. I love it, one of my favorite songs is Our Grendel and also Jitters, kinda highlights of the album for me, but the whole record is one constant brutal energy and swampy, muddy atmospheric hardcore noise. Great!

Let us talk a bit about our own Croatian underground scene. Zayn from Bjelovar released their new e.p. as third part in their of their conceptual tetralogy called Monolit. I saw Zayn perform live twice in club called Prostor in my hometown and both times it was a great experience. These guys play a mixture of post metal and noise with some indie and post rock influences thrown in here and there. Usually I am not an avid fan of instrumental music, but this band is different, here you are taken on a voyage through music soundscapes and all three songs are different, like each one of them is a story for itself, telling us the listeners something that we must interpret ourselves the way we understand it. For me the best song on this e.p. is Lovely You having awesome electronic backgrounds to the music, like some haunted synth melody reminding me of an Argento soundtrack, or what Italian band Goblin did in some songs. Support your scene!
