(review) CF98-This Is Fine (SBÄM Records)

Yes! Polish skate punks CF98 are back with new full length release and after listening to this one, I can safely say that this is their strongest record yet! This one sounds great, produced by Ishay Berger of Useless ID fame along with CF98 members. This one contains an intro plus 13 songs of sweet skate punk mixed with melodic hardcore and the singer Karolina sounds more convincing and also better than ever. This one offers themes from fight against sexism, homophobia, nationalism to more personal themes that all can relate to. I listened to fantastic Double Sunrise over and over again with all those sweet harmonies on chorus. Of course, there are also melodic hardcore songs, like fantastic Plot Twist, which reminded me of Ignite a lot, maybe it is just me. Better Than Cocaine is also one of hardcore songs, being my favorite, but the sweetest song for me on this record is Love Is Never Wrong with such a nice chorus, melody and lyrics. Go have a listen to this one, you will not regret it. This is melodic hardcore par excellence and for sure on of the top five records in this genre to come out this year so far.

(review) Baalzagoth – Morbid Persecutions

Poland is one of the Europe´s most vital and prolific scenes regarding extreme music meaning death and black metal with so many names coming to mind right away, both more and less known in the genre. Baalzagoth are new band in the scene and this is their debut full length opus. This is, how they say it, intergenerational band with singer being 46 years old and drummer being only 13. No matter, music has no boundaries and Baalzagoth deliver on this opus, with intro plus eight songs of death metal with some black metal influences thrown here and there. Songs range from thrashy and blast beats speed to more slower rythmic approach, like panzer rolling over helpless infantry in some frozen field. Underneath aggression and brutality, you can find some melody and melancholy influenced by black metal touches. Vocals are superb, death metal growl, brutal yet understandable. Songs like Unholy War, Suffering, Pagan´s Hell are sure to be your favorite if you check out this record, but you will hear it for yourself. Good and strong debut.

(review) Deceaded – The Sole Destroyer (Wormholedeath)

Time for newcomers to the scene here on the pages of my zine. Deceaded are hailing from Poland. They have been around since 2017 and this is their debut full length opus. Deceaded play a clever mixture of thrash metal, groove more urban style of street metal and crossover with hardcore influences. This opus contains intro plus nine songs, Lyrics deal with deprivation of humanity, disaster, hypocrisy, human stupidity and are in fact pretty clever and in your face, somehow making you think besides only listening to the music. One of my personal favorites is Barren Land, being a mixture of hardcore/crossover, screaming fast thrash metal and having that wicked solo. Vocals are angry, varying from screaming to almost hardcore shouting, back to being more sinister with the song structures. Musicianship is impressive, also songwriting, so we can safely say this is a pretty strong debut opus and I will eagerly await what this band will do in the future.
