(review) Cliffhanger-S/T

Cliffhanger are melodic punk/pop punk band from Chicago and this is their new e.p. that I have listened and reviewed for this zine. The record contains seven songs of beautiful melodic punk with a lot of pop punk influences. They remind me a lof of Face To Face, but maybe in more slower and especially vocals remind me of Face To Face, maybe it is only me. The melodies are nice, song arrangements and structures are cool with a lot of harmony, nice singalong lines, anthemic choruses and good lyrics. Thus, making this release a really enjoyable for us melodic punk fans. It is hard for me to choose a song, but somehow the ones that worked best for me are: Diane, After Sunrise, Forever Ago.

(review) For I Am-Late Bloomers(Bearded Punk Records)

folder

This is a little bit older release, but no matter, never too late for great music! I am listening to For I Am new album and I am amazed, with jaw dropped in admiration. This Belgian band played Beach stage at Punk Rock Holiday, but I missed their set unfortunately, I am so sorry for that after listening to this album. This music is melodic, highly contagious skatepunk/pop punk with fantastic vocals, courtesy of Hanne, she has one of the sweetest voices in the punkrock scene right now. This 15 songs are a lesson i how punkrock is done. From faster songs like Between Us or 1978 and fantastic P.I.G.O.T.R.Y. to slower more pop punk anthems like All About Perspectives with superb lyrics and melody, this album is hit from top to bottom. This is simple, old school melodic punk/skatepunk which we love, all of us who love more old school less technical sound with nineties vibe. Great record!

Between Bodies are releasing their brand new e.p. with Krod Records. This band plays just the music I like and that being uptempo mixture of melodic punkrock/pop punk and some indie touches thrown in here and there. But, don˙t get me wrong, this is not some cheesy and crying music, this is full blooded energetic nice punkrock, Death To A Child being one of the best songs on this record, which I listened on repeat couple of times in a row. The vocal harmonies are nicely arranged, melodies fit perfectly with guitar riffs and backing vocals are yummy and tasty. This is one of the better records of that genre that I listened to this year. The single simply called Great is definitely one of the highlights on the record having strong main line melody and great atmosphere to the song. Also, one of my favorites is Shadows Of Your Life, but not to discover just all, go and listen you will not regret it!
