If you love your pop melodic punk with a dose of horror, you came to the right place. I listened and reviewed the new Batshit Crazy record for our zine, so read on!

These guys are from California and their music has hardcore punk base with Black Flag immediately coming to mind when the firs riff and the first drum beat kicks in. But, they also picked up the melody and the sensibility of Ramones-core, crossbred it with The Misfits gore notebook and hence got their own horrorpoppunk style.

This record contains 12 songs and it is under half an hour long and leaves you wanting for more after listening. With songs like Such A Waste Of Good Suffering or The Babysitter Murders, you just can˙t go wrong. The musicianship is tight, the vocals are sung nicely, not some snotty voiced shit, but great punkrock voice topped with nice backing vocal harmonies. This one is a keeper and I want more of this band, I am looking forward to their future releases.

Slenders Reveal A Video For The New Single “Nastya”

Italian pop-punk act Slenders has revealed a video for “Nastya”, second single taken from the album “Angry Youth” available NOW via This Is Core and directed by Luca La Barbera. About the song, the band says: “This song is about love, of that particular intense youthful love but which, like a match, is consumed in a moment. Love is a fundamental part of youth, and it is perhaps being so passionate to make us so angry at injustice. We wanted to get excited, and we chose to talk about a girl in a video where the music and the emotion of the concert are sovereign”.

(review)Hi! Spencer-Nicht raus, aber weiter(Uncle M Music)

Hi! Spencer from Osnabruck, Germany quickly rose to become force to reckon with considering melodic punk with indie and noise influences. I was lucky to listen and review their brand new album that comes out via Uncle M Music for our zine.

There are 11 songs on this record. The music of Hi! Spencer is hard to categorize because the guys managed to create their trademark sound with fresh pop punk melodies topped with darker sounding riffs and melancholic yet hopeful choruses. The lyrics to the songs are in German language, but I understand and speak German so it was no problem for me to understand that the lyrics are mostly personal dealing with fighting and confronting your own personal demons and coping and having hope in today` s fast and sometimes merciless world. It is also about love and friendship and the things we should hold dear in our hearts and I am still warm around my heart when I write these lines, because I love this music, I love this album and the music such as this remind me why I still do this and why I still believe and support this scene after all these years. It is hard to choose, but for me the best songs on this record are: Wo immer Du bist, the title song and Richtung Norden.
