(news) Arcane Ghosts Rage With Friends at a Canada Day House Party in New Music Video “Rooftops”; ‘Human Interference’ EP Out Now!

Screen_Shot_2019-08-23_at_11.19.24_AM

Originally conceived over a couple of beers in the heart of university town Kitchener-Waterloo, Brampton based Arcane Ghosts combines raw emotion and math skills to create a post-hardcore meets pop-punk sound that should strike a chord with fans of Dance Gavin Dance, I The Mighty and Movements. After releasing their first EP in 2017, Arcane Ghosts went on to support Rarity, Heavy Hearts, and Certainty, and play Blackout Fest 2017 with The Creepshow and illScarlett. Their newest EP, ‘Human Interference’, is now available on all platforms.

The band has just released a new music video for the single “Rooftops” which can be viewed here:

While the video finds the guys and their friends having the time of their lives at a backyard Canada Day rager, the band tells Substream that the song itself is actually about something entirely different, explaining, “Rooftops is about that show where nothing is going right. Whether it’s you’re out of tune, or off time, or your bass player is playing the wrong part, everyone’s been there.”

(record review) Jazzbrunch-S/T (Zegema Beach Records)

Sweden´s Jazzbrunch have a 7 inch e.p. out with Zegema Beach Records. It is a good one. This band combines darkened hardcore, emo, screamo and post hardcore/post metal overtones in their music. There are two songs on this seven inch e.p. both having different and special atmosphere. They both have a lot of sombre and sad melody, countered with tortured screaming vocals, atmospheric parts equal amount of catchy melody which makes you sad, aggression and noise. Idiocracy is a more straight forward songs with more aggression in the sound, while An Invitation to an Enormous Disappointment is my favorite being complex ode to darkness, hauntings of the soul and how to survive everyday onslaught of your personal demons. A great record indeed!

(record review) COMRADES-For we are not yet, we are only becoming(Facedown Records)

Comrades released new full length record with Facedown Records and I listened and reviewed the record for our zine.

Comrades

This band is basically two people operation, consisting of Joe and Laura McElroy. They started playing in Virginia back in 2008.under different band name, but now they are Colorado based band. This new record contains  10 beautiful songs. The music can be categorized as noisy hardcore with emo and punkrock influences. The opener Fault Lines just blew me away with the atmosphere and superb interplay between Laura´s melodic and Joe´s screaming harsh vocals, with guitars creating haunting melodies backed with rolling thunderous drums. Throughout the whole album, some haunting and mystique atmosphere like fog drifting slowly through the landscape surrounds me as a listened with Cliff Dwelling being one of my favorites which takes me sonically really to some other dimension. Goosebumps arose on my skin listening to this record. No Past is also one of my favorites on the record being somehow the heaviest song. Hollow Point is another recommended song with catchy yet simple guitar melody and harsh vocals. Lyrically this band goes into more personal waters, I don´t have a lyric sheet, but as I understand this is a band with lyrics to which I can relate to, also I can battle my inner demons while listening to this wonderful music. Check this one out, it is a keeper!
