(record review)KIND KAPUTT-Zerfall(Uncle M/Cargo Records/Believe

I must admit that I have never heard of Kind Kaputt until this record came to my ears. As I can see on the promo photos the guys look pretty young but the looks can be wrong.

798623

The music of Kind Kaputt can be described as melodic post hardcore with many influences ranging from plain hardcore and punkrock to some alternative indie song parts. The album contains 12 songs and the overall feeling and vibe that I get from listening to this stuff is pretty darkened, although there are melodic vocal wise with some screamed parts thrown in for good measure. The lyrics are in German and as I understand and speak German, I understand that they are all personal and pretty poetic and heavy, being great lyrics. There are some parts of this record that are just not my cup of tea, but there are more parts that I love like for example the mighty Schwertschlucken which is awesome, also Der Graue Mann too. If you are into this kind of hardcore get this one, you won´t regret it!

(review)Chiefland-Wildflowers(Uncle M Music)

It is time for us here to present you the new young and exciting melodic hardcore band from Germany, namely Chiefland. Their debut album is scheduled to come out on Uncle M Music and I listened to the record and reviewed it for our zine.

The music of Chiefland could be categorized into melodic hardcore with a lot of post hardcore influences thrown in the song structures. The album contains 12 songs of rolling soundscape, coupled with melodic guitar hooks and screamed and shouted vocals that fit in just nicely to the songs. There are some faster parts like in Fragile Feet which is one of my favorite songs on this record with fast drums, breaks and screaming melody. Also, Homestead pt 1 and pt 2 are one of my favorites on this album. The lyrics are personal as I understand them and the overall vibe and feeling that I get while listening to this album is one of aggression caused by sadness and despair with a hint of hope here and there. Nice debut record.

(record review)DENS-No Small Tempest(Facedown Records)

Dens are from Richmond, VA and they recently released new record on Facedown Records. I listened to this one and reviewed it for our zine.

499669

The record contains 4 songs of beautifully written and performed post hardcore with emo and indie rock influences. But, not all is so serene and calm as the description of their music might sound like. For example Sackcloth & Ash is pretty harsh and desperate soundscape mixed with soothing and warm heartfelt melodies. The lyrics are personal, music is technically played on very high level and I would like very much to see and hear this songs performed live because I am sure that would be an awesome experience. This four songs are an epic whole and my recommendation for you is that you listen this record in one instance, then you can experience it˙s worth. Nice.
