Skate-Punk legends Pulley have release a well received new album called ‘The Golden Life’ on SBÄM Records in 2022. After releasing videos for their singles ‘Lonely’ and ‘Golden Life’, Pulley now come along with a banger music video for the album opener, ‘Repeat Offender’.
A video that not only shows the band performing in front of a trailer that reminds us a lot of the cover artwork of ‘The Golden Life’ – it also transports the story the song tells us about constantly antagonizing.
I witnessed Pulley playing their set live back in 2019 at Punk Rock Holiday when they headlined Monday and it was a disaster, at least in my opinion. Singer Scott Radinsky was just too drunk and all around him every song just fell apart, although music was not so bad, he spoiled everything for me, when I wanted to see one of the bands I so love since the nineties and their Epitaph releases. Anyway, this is their first full length album with new material after a long time and these twelve songs are a treat for every nineties skate/melodic punk fan out there. Songs are written great, Scott´s vocals sound better than ever along with backing vocal harmonies and superb melodies. In all, this album somehow evokes an atmosphere and vibe of melancholy and mixture of happiness and sadness at the same time. Maybe it is only me, maybe I remember all of the times and people that are gone now, maybe something else. But, it is a good record to listen to, my personal favorites are Wake Up, Sad Song, Golden Life. Just can´t wait to hear the new material live. Hope their set will be better next time I see them play live.
The first single, “Golden Life,” fittingly titled “The Golden Life,” will be released digitally on April 21 to give fans of the former Fat Wreck and Epitaph band a taste of a new album that has it all!
Golden Life is an anthem to youth for vocalist Scott:
“I’m watching a generation of kids seemingly robbed of an experience. A life without easy access to good and bad. Much of what they’ve seen in the world has been negative, unimaginable terrorist attacks, war and violence, a division of people,” the singer and former professional baseball player said.
“As for music, our generation really had to earn it if we wanted to hear or see it properly. Technology has its good points, but it has taken away an experience that allowed for a deeper appreciation of life. The irony is that our generation is partially responsible for this platform,” he continues to explain what the song is about.
Pre-sales for Pulley – The Golden Life will begin on April 25, 2022.
As for how the new album came about, Scott Radinsky explains, “The writing process for this album was a little different because of the pandemic. When everyone was out of work at the beginning, we decided to write new material, we had a lot of time to devote to the music and were able to flesh out the songs until we felt they were ready.”
In 2021, both an EP of four Pulley classics made into acoustic tracks and the compilation “Encore” were released.
“The difference between this and the acoustic album is that everyone contributed here and the songs were all new, whereas the acoustic album was just a different interpretation of the music that had already been released,” Scott says
“We’re all proud of how these songs turned out musically and sonically and can’t wait to play them live and share them with everyone.”
