‘Whimsical’, against all remorse – Amalia Bloom’s new single celebrates the desire for change!

Whimsical is the new single by Amalia Bloom. The Italian band dynamically combines the most confidential emo with more rough sound choices. This new track, the first extract from their forthcoming album, is an intimate and visceral invitation to launch ourselves into a radical change to live peacefully and without any remorse.

Whimsical” is an adjective that the band ironically associates with memories, representing the oddities of everyday life in a city that seems unable to let go of its inhabitants. In the lyrics, an old woman takes a walk with her (past and future) grandson and, while holding their hand, she reflects on the features of the city she never had the courage to leave. Nostalgia mixes with remorse, creating a dense and bitter fluid: the routine we have crafted for ourselves is what we are today, but what would we be now if we had been able to take more risks?

Musically, the song perfectly describes the two souls of the band: a shy, almost whispered opening gives way to dynamic and screamed parts, in a game of balance that reaches its climax with a final explosion in the chorus, intense both instrumentally and vocally. The sound is enriched by some Fender Rhodes parts, arranged and performed by Elia Guglielmi, the sound engineer of the whole record.

In the video directed by Yari Ricco, the twilight of an empty theater hosts the concert of the band, which merges with the performance of the dancer Silvia Garulli of the Compagnia Sisina Augusta, in a communion of intent the two artistic forms influence and complete each other. The single anticipates the band’s second studio album, “Picturesque“, out on May 13, 2022.

On April 15 the album of the German melodic punk rock band will be released via SBÄM and Say-10, “Apocalypse Tomorrow” is the last foretaste. The video is released today, the SIngle on all streaming platforms on Friday, 18.03. Today, Wednesday, the presale for the new album begins.

Apocalypse Now? Apocalypse Later? Apocalypse Whenever! That’s the title of the latest and final single of Captain Asshole’s new album Successfully Not Giving Up before it hits the shelves.

Screeching guitar feedback and blasting drums mark the beginning of the end of times atmosphere the song is creating, and it becomes rather obvious once the opening line hits: well it’s been a bad day I watched our planet die… The song deals with our millennial generation’s disillusion in relation to ongoing disasters like the climate crisis but also couldn’t be more urgent in times of pandemic and war in central Europe. Musically it continues much more uplifting than initially assumed and it even finds some hope lyrically, true to the theme of Successfully Not Giving Up: I still think we have to keep on fighting for what we believe in.

As with previous releases the titular Captain Asshole shows up for at least one video. But in a twist of fate now the hunter becomes the hunted.

„Successfully Not Giving Up“ releases April 15 2022 via SBÄM Records, US release via SAY-10 Records.
