If catchy hooks, infectious vocals, and driving guitars are your thing, we have you covered. The Bombpops are set to release their second full-length, Death in Venice Beach (pre-order), on March 13! Plus, we have a new music video to share for their lead single, “Notre Dame,” which you can watch below. The video is an ode to David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, and explores the dark side of Los Angeles. Guitarist/vocalist, Jen Razavi had the following to share about the genesis of the song:

I’ve always loved the idea of souls being here together in past lives and the notion that space and time have never really mattered. I saw Notre Dame in flames on the news and immediately sat down to write a song. It was the exact imagery I needed to convey a theme I had been exploring about knowing someone so deeply before ever meeting them. A centuries-old cathedral in flames became a perfect representation.

PRE-ORDER HERE

The album’s themes and sounds were captured with maximum nuance by a production team consisting of Yotam Ben Horin (Useless ID), Fat Mike (NOFX), and Chris Fogal (The Gamits), who also recorded Fear of Missing Out. You’ll be able to catch The Bombpops live this March and April on a flurry of headlining dates. Don’t miss it!

(review) Bandaid Brigade-I´m Separate

Screen_Shot_2019-12-16_at_9.13.38_AM

Bandaid Brigade is a new band in the scene but the you might know the members via their other bands and projects. With line-up Brian Wahlstrom(Scorpios, Gods Of Mount Olympus…), Zach Quinn(Pears), Paul Rucker(Street Dogs) and Chris Fogal(The Gamits) little could go wrong, right? Right! This is for sure one of the best albums I have listened for a long time. This is not your usual hardcore punk mayhem. These songs are punkrock in the base, but leaning more on pop, rock, mainly some 80-ies influences. I can hear a lot of Freddie Mercury in Everything, song with fantastic melody. Travel Light, song for which a video was made is more of a disco pop punk song and shows all the richness of Brian and Zach in their vocal lines, creating otherworldly experience while listening. You can hear a bit of sax in Stay Busy, but also cello and violin in the song structures, showing these guys are not afraid to break boundaries and enrich the songs, yet returning to heavy guitar duty with the superb guitar melody in Treat Me Like A Christmas Tree, then comes Losing Light, the song which I listened on repeat for many, many, times. Not to discover just all, the scene purists will not like this one, I personally love this record. I would love to see this band live, I know it would be a blast.
