(review) Dickie Devil and the Deviants – The Undead Wanna Rock n Roll e.p.

a2525746086_10

Dickie Devil and the Deviants are from Pennsylvania and they call their music Munstercore. There are four songs on this new e.p. and the music is somewhere between garage rock, surf, horror punk and rockabilly, of course with horror lyrics and this e.p. varies from song to song. The Undead Wanna Rock n Roll is a more of a classic rock n roll song old school vibe with zombies dancing all around in their rotten clothes and flesh falling off their bodies on the floor. Creatures Pet has more rockabilly sounding guitar and beat while my personal favorite is Queen of Monster High being the most melodic and punk rock sounding song just made for you to sing along and bury your prom date to. Da Humans Run Run is also nice punk rock song and those two mentioned are my favorites. This is a great little record, for all you fiendettes and fiends, go get this one.

(review) Danzig-Danzig sings Elvis(Cleopatra Records)

Front

This was long time in the making and it is finally here! Glenn Danzig, my musical hero and inspiration, one of the heroes of my childhood, through Misfits, Samhain and his solo career, recorded an album with cover versions of the songs by king himself, Elvis Presley. The king of darkness covering King Elvis, hero of Danzig`s childhood. Although many have tried to clone and copy him, especially in horrorpunk scene, there is only one voice, Danzig and his trademark beautiful vocal. These 14 songs are beautiful renditions of Presley songs. I am not a fan of Elvis, so I do not know whether some of these songs are hits or no, but I know that Fever, Always on my mind, Loving arms and Like a baby are my personal favorites on this record. This is a nice one, like a classic prequel to 2015. album Skeletons hehe. Pay tribute to both kings!

(news) REVEREND HORTON HEAT PAY HOMAGE TO ROY ORBISON WITH NEW VIDEO “PERFECT”

thumbnail_image002

REVEREND HORTON HEAT are crooning back with “Perfect,” the third video from their newest album Whole New Life (available now).

The video

“There will never be another Roy Orbison,” promises frontman/guitarist Jim Heath. “I’ve always thought he was the ultimate perfect singer. There’s a nod to his classic song ‘Pretty Woman’ in here, but this song is my own melody and guitar licks.”

As the first line in the song reads, ‘Perfection is not in the cards,’ Heath, along with bassist Jimbo Wallace accidentally fell into such an imperfect situation in the studio. Technical difficulties forced the band to re-record Wallace’s bass parts when Heath had an idea very unconventional to the REVEREND HORTON HEAT rulebook. “I was thinking about getting Jimbo to play electric bass instead of upright, but he came up with the genius of playing an upright bass with a pick – and it worked out perfect (no pun intended)!”

“I wanted the video to be early sixties go-go themed. The cute dancers we had in the video along with Brian Raida (director) did a great job bringing out that concept, from the set furniture, flooring, lighting and props. I like all of the colors in the video, but I dressed in black and white as a nod to Roy’s video ‘Black and White Night,’ and to contrast the vivid colors. Of course I had to have the sunglasses! We even drank some boozy milkshakes made for us by the owner of the Pink Squirrel in Chicago where part of the video was filmed.”

“Frankly, I think the song is kind of zany and psychotic, verging on ridiculous, but REVEREND HORTON HEAT has always had a sense of humor. At the end of the day, it’s a love song. A somewhat psychotic, yet fun love song.”

Rounded out by drummer RJ Contreras, REVEREND HORTON HEAT are on the road into 2020 supporting Whole New Life. Catch them in a city near you!
