With the amount of new music coming out of the United States on a daily basis it can be very easy to ignore the fact that there’s a well of great international bands. All you have to do is a little searching and you’ll stumble upon a band like The Sensations. A band that sends a little spark throughout your body and makes the hairs on your neck stand up.

The Sensations formed in 2008 in Tokyo, Japan. Imagine for a second the bursting at the seams excitement of a Bomb The Music Industry live show combined with the raw energy of Potshot and you just might begin to understand what The Sensations have to offer. Cherrypicking bits from genre’s including punk, hardcore, third wave ska, soul, and 60’s pop, The Sensations blend all of these sounds together and package it as their own. Their Paper + Plastick debut, Just Let Me Turn You Up, will introduce the band to a new audience here in the US. It’s exciting, it’s fun, and it deserves your attention.

The Sensations will be partnering up with ska-punk legends Mustard Plug to play a few shows in Florida this October. You can find those dates below.

(record review)The Mighty Mighty Bosstones-“While We´re At It”(Big Rig)

The new studio album of Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the legendary ska core band is upon us! I listened and reviewed the record for this webzine!

The legendary purveyors of ska core, a mixture of ska, punkrock and hardcore are now celebrating their 35 years anniversary.  This brand new album contains 14 songs of melodic skacore at it´s best. The record is diverse in mood and vibe, from the more energetic “Green Bay, Wisconsin” to the more calm punkrock vibe of “The Constant”. One of my personal favorites of this record is “Wonderful Day For The Race” being the true anthem just made for live singing along and dancing to the ska punk beat. Reggae beat of “Unified” is an anthem of unity and the scene that we all love so much. “Closer to Nowhere” is a classic ska song for the 21st century and I would love to hear this song on some open air festival on the warm Summer evening dancing with my beloved to this awesome ska rythm. “Walked Like a Ghost” is for me the most emotional song on the record with the lyrics that totally touched my heart. “In Honor Of” and “After the Music is Over” are the songs that will make your day and put a smile on your tired face. Good album.

(record review)MAD CADDIES-“Punk Rocksteady”(Fat Wreck Chords)

Mad Caddies dropped their new album out on Fat Wreck Chords just in time for all those summer shows and festivals following and I am definitely gonna see them live soon in a month and a half and it is going to be awesome. In the meantime I listened and reviewed their new record for this webzine.

As you might have heard this is the album filled with covers of the bands that influenced Mad Caddies and which somehow had an effect on them as a band and as people. But, it is done in Mad Caddies way, meaning reggae and ska mixed with punkrock. As it usually goes, some songs are better, some are not so good, it depends on the listener´s personal point of view. In my opinion the best songs for me on this record are “She´s Gone(NOFX)” being a haunting reggae version of the original and featuring excellent back vocals by Aimee of The Interrupters, then “AM(Tony Sly)”, because it really resembles the original meaning of the song and adds to it the new vibe  and “Some Kind of Hate(Misfits) having a 50´s vibe that is what makes the original so special but also adding the new originality to the song. Also “Alien 8(Lagwagon)” is nice too. Those are my four favourites and that doesn´t mean that the other songs sre not good. Check it out because this is not the simple covers album, it is much more because Mad Caddies added a lot of originality to these songs and I love this album for that.
