(review) With The Punches – Discontent (Mutant League Records)

With The Punches released first new e.p. being the first new release in nine years with the help of Mutant League Records. There are five songs on this little e.p. and it is just classy. Stoneham Blues is a fast skate punk nineties influenced song with fast verse and slower, more atmospheric chorus, having so sweet melody. Discontent is more of a pop punk song with groove, likeable guitar work and uplifting melody topped with harmonious vocals which are awesome. Lyrically, With The Punches deal more with personal side of life and I think with music like this, it is also one of the reasons why I love punk rock like this one, because I can relate to the lyrics. Mirage is my personal favorite of all five records, but that place is in fact rotating as I listen to this e.p. more, because all of the songs are just great. Listen to this five songs and decide for yourself which one is your favorite.

(review) Bottlekids – Zilch! (SBÄM Records)

Bottlekids are from Wales and this is their brand new e.p. out with mighty SBÄM Records who are for sure European punk rock number one record label right now! What have we here? This one contains six songs. The music of Bottlekids is fast and energetic punk rock with harsher vocals but armed with nice melodies and harmonies. The guitar work is awesome and drums smartly balance between faster and more aggressive song parts and slower more melodic hooks and bridges. Lyrics are personal and deal with surviving in this world, hope and life which we all must live the best that we can to our abilities. One of my personal favorites is Already Dead having such nice melody and lyrics whose combination brought goosebumps on my skin. Two more songs that I must mention as being my highlights are This Idiocracy being a fine political tune related to daily life and also The Irreplaceable Past which is my personal best song of all six. Go check this one if you like your punk rock melodic!
