(review) Probation-Violate(WTF Records)

3. COVER_PROBATION_VIOLATE_HIGHRES

Probation are from Holland and they have a new record with WTF Records. This is an interesting record in all of the songs it contains. Why? Because the music of Probation is basically an amalgamation of all members`music tastes and influences. You get brutal and harsh hardcore punk in basic, mixed with a lot of metal and sludge punk influences. I can also here some d-beat in Unveiling The Truth for example. There are enough hardcore fast parts to fill you up with energy, but also some groove metal modern mosh parts here and there, with slowed down dirty and gritty sludge swampy parts in some song sructures. The vocals are beautiful, ranging from almost death metal like growling, angry shouting in crusty style and screaming at the top of the lungs. This is heavy hitter and I love every single of this record. Recommended songs: Finished And Done, Blood Ditch, Can˙t Stand You.

(review) Pears-Pears(Fat Wreck Chords)

I saw Pears play live twice and both times I was just awed by the fantastic energy of their live show, mostly thanks to their fantastic frontman Zach Quinn. This new record contains 14 fantastic songs and Pears still outdo themselves with their combination of ferocious and fast hardcore punk mixed with melody and their New Orleans sludgy song parts. The speed, melody and catchy guitar riffs are topped with fantastic Zach˙s vocals and I am still amazed how this guy can transform from angry shouter punk to gentle melodic singer and back to screaming his guts out, with noisy and dischordant riffs suddenly becoming warm and melodic riffing, just to get back to beastly hardcore. All of the songs are just superb, but if I must choose some that would be Comfortably Dumb, Worm and Funerals. Superb album!

(review) Malevich-Our Hollow(Zegema Beach Records)

cover

The music of Malevich can`t be put into one box, quite the contrary. Thanks to Zegema Beach Records, we are now able to listen to this fine record and enjoy the heaviness, of this band. If one thing holds true for this band is the heaviness. The triple vocals ranging from guttural to screaming and hardcore shouting, a mixture of darkened hardcore, sludgecore and screamo is sure to delight your black heart and take you on the journey to musical underground dwellings of majestic blackness. This nine songs vary from atmospheric, slower to pure aggression and almost grindcore intensity with a sick mixture of longer songs and slower miniature serving like calm between greater storms. This one is a keeper if you love your hardcore heavy and different!
