(review) All Life Ends – ‘Miscreation’

ALL LIFE ENDS are hailing from Switzerland and this is their second opus. There are nine songs on this album. The band was founded in 2006 and they play death metal. They released two EP-s and this is their second full length opus. Although they play death metal there are also couple of metalcore and thrash metal influences in their song structures. Considering death metal, ALL LIFE ENDS lean more heavily into American school of death metal, with blistering fast blast beats, thundering fast guitar solos, which contain occasional hooks and catchy melodic short parts, also some atmospheric parts are in the songs, almost progressive death metal, along with moshing grooves like in ‘The Dreamless Void’, the longest song on this record, but in no way boring for a second. Production is brutal and grandiose, courtesy of Dan Swanö at Unisound AB Studio. Vocals are brutal and more guttural, but you can understand what is being sung about in many parts, so that is another plus for me considering this band. This album was written during covid shit lockdowns and pandemics, so one of my personal favorites on this record is ‘Pandemonic’, also song I must mention is ‘Extinction Hours’. This is quality death metal with couple of thrash and metalcore parts thrown in, so enjoy it as I did.

(review) NOFNOG – Insomnia ( Sbäm Records)

Brothers and sisters at  Sbäm Records never cease to amaze with superb releases coming our way almost on monthly basis. I must also admit that I have heard of NOFNOG prior to this record, but never really listened to their music, so thankful to  Sbäm and this new opus, I am able to enjoy in this band and also able to listen their previous releases. NOFNOG are coming from Switzerland and have been in the scene for almost twenty years. This new opus contains twelve songs to make your hardcore heart fluffy with joy. NOFNOG play melodic hardcore with some skate punk touches here and there, throw in great, smartly written political lyrics with great street punk vibe and you get an awesome band. What I also enjoyed is vocals that are rough and almost shouted in hardcore way, but also melodic, reminding me at time of Trevor from now late, great American Werewolves in some songs. Songs like Memento Mori, Drunk Of Life, Insomnia and Go On are sure to become crowd favorites at gigs, moshing singing along and old school finger pointing. This one is a keeper and I am sorry that I didn´t listen to NOFNOG before all these years that I and them are active in the scene. But, better late than never, eh?

(review) Danas Rising – Morgengrauen

Danas Rising are new band in the scene, hailing from Switzerland. This is their debut full length opus containing 6 songs. As for music, Danas Rising play rawer version of death doom metal with dual growling and screaming vocals, sometimes venturing into atmospheric clean melodic parts and thus creating hopeless, dark, almost touchable atmosphere of horror and void and fear. Songs are pretty long but they do not get boring at all. Of course, there are some prog and psychodelia influences of Celtic Frost sympho parts in Empire of Nature and punk rock simplicity even crust punk in Anarchist. My personal favorite is A Virus Called Humanity. Slow doom parts quickly evolves in some songs parts into death metal aggression and blasting beats back to mighty doom hits of the title song and dual screaming of Morgengrauen. This is a perfect soundtrack for a morning walk through musty, foggy and wet forest. Good death doom.
