(review) The Phosphorus Bombs-…Against You!

cover

The Phosphorous Bombs from Sydney are no strangers to the pages of this zine. We already reviewed their record and now is the time for the brand new e.p.

There 7 ferocious no mercy hardcore punk songs on this one. The title song reminds me a bit of old school Sick Of It All days, yet the guys retain the gritty dirtiness in their sound but with enough of melody and energy to last you for days when you remember the aural attack this record provides. The lyrics are in your face, personal yet angry and you can relate to them. This one is a keeper. It is so much more improved than the last record which I also liked very much. Recommended songs: Against You!, 88 Days, Too Much Of Me.

(photo gig report) Celtic punks The Rumjacks visited Zagreb Vintage Industrial Bar!

Australian celtic punks The Rumjacks visited our country again as a part of their current European tour. They played Vintage Industrial Bar in Zagreb again and our Irina was there to witness the mighty gig. The Rumjacks delivered killer party set made of older and newer hits from their albums and all the fans that were at the gig were having good times, that is really what matters most. Here are couple of photos from the last night:

(record review)THE PHOSPHORUS BOMBS-“Blank Slates”

I never cease to be amazed with the Australian punk hardcore scene. So many awesome bands, so many awesome people and although we live across half the world from each other, I feel connected to them by the magic of music. The Phosphorus Bombs from Sydney have a new record out and I listened and reviewed it for this webzine.

“Blank Slates” contains five songs of refreshing yet somehow nostalgic hardcore punk. The music is very harsh and energetic, angry and noisy, yet it still contains enough hidden melody underneath to keep it catchy and excellent. Don´t get me wrong, this guys really know how to handle their music instruments and play well and thought out punk. The lyrics are personal, somehow self deprecating but still enough political and smart between the lines. The song that I loved the most while listening this record a couple of times was “Overdue”, being the most melodic and energetic song on the record for me. This is an excellent record by the excellent band, so go get it, write to the guys in the band, tell them how you loved and why you loved their music, I am sure it will mean tons to them!

8,5/10
