Days N Daze are an impressive band of outlaws from Texas. They released new record with Fat Wreck Chords and I just love their newer records where they somehow became more melodic than in their earlier stuff. For those who don˙t know, Days N Daze play acoustic mixture of folk punk, melodic punkrock, skatepunk, hell even crust in some songs. I love the harmonies on vocals provided by Jesse and Whitney who fulfill themselves with their voices so fantastic. There are 11 songs on this record, all being superb, some sounding melancholic and making me sad, some being angry and political, others just make me pump my fist in the air and jump around like crazy. I have never seen this band live, but I am pretty sure their shows are amazing to watch and listen. All the instruments, like trumpet, uke, mandolin, banjo and guitar accompanied by gutbucket and washboard are just awesome. I don`t usually listen a lot to such music, but these guys are fantastic. Recommended songs: My Darling Dopamine, Rewind, Show Me The Blueprints.
Amygdala are from San Antonio, Texas and they play fantastic hardcore punk with screaming, angry and desperate vocals. This record contains 11 beautiful songs of rebellion and energy. From fast and straightforward Born Into Abuse, across more heavier, atmospheric and slower, but hard hitting songs like Why Can`t I Heal?, to full speed power violence speed of It Takes A Village, Amygdala deliver for sure one of the best hardcore punk records I have listened for a long time. The lyrics are great, music is fantastic and I am really happy that I have listened and tried to tell you how much I love this one, maybe you will listen and share the same feeling with me. This is hardcore punk par excellence.
Bauwaves are coming from Austin, Texas and were formed in 2018. This is their debut album and it contains 10 songs. What I really like about this one, is they played raw old school sounding, gritty punkrock with a lost of melody, but also you can feel some garage and even doom Sabbath influences in the song structures. The vocals are just like they should be for such music, raw voiced yet melodic and powerful. I love the old school rehearsal room sound the guys have on their record and it makes me very nostalgic for all the 90-ies demo tapes, early diy albums and everything we collected back then via tape trading in those days. This album carries diy punkrock spirit with pride and in their hearts. Recommended songs: Into the light, Years later, U r everything. This is a great record!
