Founded in 2014.Corbian, the quintet from Offenbach, Germany is a relatively new band in the scene but they bloody kick ass. Their new album is one of the best albums that I listened to this week.
The album contains 11 songs and the opener “Bloodborn” just blew my head off with fast and melodic anthemic chorus backed by great moshing parts. The title track leans more towards the metalcore territory with a nod to Gothenburg melodic school of Swedish death metal. I loved the Gothenburg style bands since I was a kid, so I am still a sucker for such bands today. According to the band promo bio, their live shows are something to see and hear, so I would like very much to catch these guys live one day in the not too distant future. The anthemic choruses made for sing along, the guitar hooks and melodies that remain in your mind so you can whistle and hum them all through the nasty working day at the job you hate, only to come home and blow your speakers again with the music of Corbian. I will not reveal what joy all the tracks in this album bring, it is up to you to get it, because this one is a keeper!
Hailing from Italy, Arkana Code plays technical thrash death metal and this is their second album and it came out on mighty Metal Scrap Records Inc.
The album contains 10 songs plus intro. After the ominous intro in which we hear someone walking followed by evil sounding music, the opener “Violent Human Corruption” feasts our eyes with brutal thrash metal almost bordering with pure death metal. The song is really fast with wicked screamning guitars that even Slayer wouldnt be ashamed of. “Oppressor of Darkness” and “Escape from my Mind” are two more grenades on the territory of modern brutal deadly thrash metal. These guys were originally formed in 2008.under other moniker and enduring some lineup changes through the years, they gathered experience and the results are evident. For me the absolute highlight and the best song on the album is definitely “The Holocaust Horde” being a lesson in energy made for moshing. I liked this album and I am eager to hear the new stuff by this band in the future.
Hailing from Berlin, Germany, thrash metal unit Exxperior have published a video for the track “A Christmas Carol”, a metal musical taken off the band’s Christmas EP, “From Weird to Magical”, released on December 2016.
The story of “A Christmas Carol” is based on a novel by Charles Dickens, first published in London by Chapman & Hall on 19 December 1843. Guest Vocals of First Aid, Reactory, Bloodbeat and Speedwhore are representing
different characters of the well-known tale. The song takes about nine minutes creating an explosive musical experience with the similarity of bands like Alice Cooper and Savatage – but the thrash metal way!
