(tv series) ‘Hunters’ season two way better than the first one!

I was surprised when Hunters season two came out because I thought it was a one off series back in 2020. I watched first one during corona lockdown and it was not a prime time of my personal life due to some other issues, so it remained in my memory as good, with good twist in the end. But, there it is! Second season, eight episodes and final season as poster above says. This one starts as first left us, with our characters, a group of Jewish Nazi hunters in 1979, dispersed around the world, some still hunting Nazis, some doing other jobs, some holding grudges due to events in the first season. But, one thing gets them back and joins them with another group of Jewish hunters, the hunt for ultimate Nazi, hunt for Adolf Hitler who still lives in South America with his beloved Eva Braun and plots how to come back and conquer the world. This one was created by David Weil(‘Invasion’, ‘Solos’) and has a stellar line-up with every character being so greatly written and done, from main man Jonah(Logan Lerman -‘Fury’) across Al Pacino who appears again in parallel story which prequels happenings in first season, to Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kate Mulvany, Lena Olin, Josh Radnor of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ sitcom, and of course Udo Kier as Adolf himself being grumpy insane old dictator, on the surface not having much reality based thoughts anymore and Judd Hirsch as Simon Wiesenthal. Since Jordan Peele is executive producer it was bound to have some interesting and a bit different parts. So, I love the hommage to ‘The Sound Of Music’, I think it was in episode two, and also the penultimate episode is I think something weirdest and also most beautiful that I have seen lately. Dialogues are great, there are plenty action scenes and deaths of dear characters, ending provides tiny window for third season, but I would like it to end here, this being final season as they announced.

(tv series) Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99 shows the disaster of this festival up and close

Although I have already seen a full length documentary about this disaster of a festival, my friend recommended me this three part tv documentary series about debacle called Woodstock in 1999.

Thirty years after original Woodstock which happened in 1969, original promotor Michael Lang wanted to revive the feeling of peace, love, unity and positive energy, found sponsors and decided to make Woodstock happen again. The line-up was totally great featuring Metallica, RHCP, RATM, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Kid Rock, Offspring, but also Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson and James Brown as a kind of bridge between old and new generations. It was all well imagined, 250 000 crowd on former abandoned airfield and airbase in upstate New York with three days of superb music, fun and feelgood. What could go wrong? Well, everything! My personal opinion that the main idea and engine of promotors for this festival was greed and not original Woodstock ideas and their fault is equal that crowd of rowdy assholes raped, pillaged, burned and destroyed everything beyond imagining. I have never seen something like that. It also confirmed to me that Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit it total redneck asshole, what I have known before. If you watch it you will know why. I also blame main sponsor and I can’t let in my head thought of water denial to crowd in Summer heat and putting such prices to bottle of water. This is a great documentary and I think Woodstock brand is buried and gone. Good riddance to it as well.

(tv series) The Boys season 3 is a bit less than first two, but still rocks!

Couple of years ago, my friend told me go watch The Boys, you will love it! Knowing my affinities my friend rightfully deduced that I will become massive fan of that series. We are all used to the world where superheroes are troubled but good, with burden of the world lying on their shoulders. But, The Boys, based on comic by Garth Ennis, brought something entirely different in the picture. Theirs is the world where they are employees and practically slaves of the media corporation, led by Homelander, hero with blonde hair, nice look, but psychopatic lunatic killer maniac all the same. In this third season, after all the events with Stormfront and other villains, our heroes Hughie, Billy The Butcher, Starlight, Frenchie and Mother´s Milk try to get ahold of Soldier Boy(newly arrived to the series – none other than Jensen Ackles of Supernatural fame), who was frozen by the Soviets decades ago because Soldier Boy only has weapon how to kill Homelander and stop his madness. As it goes, there are couple of sub story lines and I can not write much about the story, because I will spoil it to you. If you want black humor, gore, blood, guts, nudity, profanity, above all superb screenplay and story than all three seasons are just right for ya.

This third season was a bit weaker than the first two, but sweet journey nonetheless.
