Wow! That is only I can say when I think of new Harker record. UK´s Harker have a new opus with 10 anthems of bedazzling melodic punk rock. The music is very uplifting and melodic, just made for singing along and humming to every fantastic chorus, guitar melody and vocal line. Harmonies between lead and backing vocals are done great and clever use of electronics only emphasize great songwriting skill of this band. This is not your fast skatepunk hardcore punk story, but thoughtful and cleverly imagined and written melodic punk with lots of pop punk influences. Lyrics are rather personal and I think everyone of us who lives can relate at least to one of the songs that is to become their personal highlight upon listening to this record. Mine are: Adulthood and The Grey Lady. This is for sure one of the best melodic punk records that came out this year until now.

(news) Accursed Years release ‘Wings of Fire’ in support of the forests!

Today UK metallers Accursed Years release their new single “Wings of Fire”. Starting today, the band will be raising funds for the UK-based charity Woodland Trust to help protect forests.
“Our new single, Wings of Fire, is a song essentially about deforestation. The world is losing its forests at an alarming rate, so this is a subject that we felt we wanted to discuss. We also wanted to go a little further than simply speak about the subject through our music, so we’ve decided to try our hand at a little fundraiser in support of Woodland Trust, a charity that aims to plant and protect forests in the UK.”
Everyone who donates as part of this campaign will have the chance to win the original (and only) painting created as artwork for this single, as well as having a tree planted in their name, for which they will receive a certificate. They will also receive the only remaining physical copy of our 2015 Oaken Weave single. The winner of this prize will be chosen at random and announced on May 7 along with the release of the “Wings of Fire” music video. For more information and to donate, follow the link below: https://www.accursedyears.co.uk/wingsoffire Accursed Years is a metal band from Weymouth, England. They offer a dark, atmospheric, yet fist-pumping style of metal influenced by a combination of European metal bands such as Amon Amarth and Ensiferum, along with the darker forms of metal from bands from their home country, such as Paradise Lost.
(review) SAXON – Inspirations

UK´s legendary NWOBHM veterans Saxon released an album with cover versions of the songs by musicians and bands which had an influence and served as inspirations for their long year running stint as UK´s premier heavy metal band besides Iron Maiden. This one contains 11 songs of more or less known songs and I somehow like The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Motorhead covers the best. I am usually not eager of bands delivering cover albums because they often mean only record contract fillers with labels but this is an okay album and I have nothing but respect for Saxon being in the scene for so long throughout the years and all ups and downs of their career and the scene itself. Biff´s specific voice is really fun to hear in these songs and it is an interesting choice of covers.
