Swim or Drown: Dutch metallic hardcore group unveil ‘Trapped’ 7” + Music Video; out now via WTF Records

Dutch metal-fueled hardcore quintet Swim or Drown returns with a new 7”, Trapped, out today (13 December 2023) via WTF Records on vinyl and digital formats.

Trapped features two of the heaviest hardcore numbers Swim or Drown ever produced to date. The title track tells the story of frontman Jan’s struggle with his inner demons, a theme that was previously explored in the title track of Torment, the band’s last EP. The cover art for Trapped depicts a skull behind bars with chains around its mouth, representing the story. The other track, “Human Scum,” expresses the band’s frustration and anger towards humans for greedily destroying nature, animals, and other human beings.

The tracks were recorded, mixed, and mastered by Sander Oldersma at 3181 Recording Studio.

(review) The Car Bomb Parade – New World Hardcore (WTF Records)

The good people of WTF Records delivered another bunch of excellent hardcore punk records on the unsuspecting world. The Car Bomb Parade are hailing from New York area and this is their new four song e.p. Music of The Car Bomb Parade reminds me of old school hardcore days of my youth and gave me goosebumps while listening to this e.p. Pure hardcore punk fast mayhem with no holds barred, raw and at the same time firmly holding both legs in street punk roots, if I must compare the music to someone, it would be Cause For Alarm, Age of Quarrel time of Cro-Mags and similar bands. There is also some melody and catchiness in the songs like in my favorite Our Holiday which is just made for singing along live. Reggae parts of Purge Your Soul NWHC surprised me but caught me smiling with irony of the lyrics and tongue in cheek humor converting to hardcore mayhem. Trash Life is the final song, also making me want for more and can´t wait to see these guys play live one day.

(review) Going Postal NYHC – Going Postal (WTF Records)

3. WTF-055 Going Postal Cover HighRes_300DPI

Good people at WTF Records just cannot stop releasing tons of great music. This time, Going Postal, band from NYC with their new opus of raw street smart hardcore. This e.p.is nineties influenced hardcore with lots more street punk influences but also has its momentary excursions into metal waters. I especially love Drowning In It, reminding me a lot of Warzone, one of my favorite bands from New York. This is simple, no bullshit, no holds barred undisputed hardcore with tendency to make you mosh, hug sweaty kid in the pit next to you and make your body flow with hardcore energy from your forehead to your toes. FTW is also one of personal favorites, being short but sweet punkrock influenced hardcore that we miss sometimes so much in today´s scene. This is pure old school hardcore with shadows of old bands like Killing Time, AF, Youth Of Today, Warzone and similar looking upon and smiling. Great release!
