(record review)ALL FOR REVENGE-“Dirty Street Music”

cover

I never heard for All For Revenge prior to this album. As I understand this is their second studio album. The guys are hailing from Troy in upstate New York. This album contains 11 songs in the vein of 90-ies style New York Hardcore bands like Biohazard, 25 Ta Life, All Out War etc..but the guys also bring in some modern hardcore and metal influences too. The songs are energetic, excellent for moshing and releasing your anger vent. I liked the straight forward in your face attitude of “Hard Road” and moshing rolling rythm of “Kill The Korporation” with almost metalcore death metal growling vocals. The title song has great street vibe and ironic vision of dirty street life so, this song is one of the album highlights. Somewhere around the middle of the album things get little repeative and all the songs sound a little similar. The final third of the album picks up the pace again with good songs like “Struggle” and “Anthem” which has guest vocals by Keith One Shot. If you love your hardcore groovy and tough, you will love this record.

(record review)ARCH ENEMY-“Will To Power”(Century Media records)

folder

Wow! We are already at the tenth studio album made by this excellent melodic death trash metal Sweden based band. This is the first album after lineup change with new guitar player Jeff Loomis aboard. The album contains 12 songs. After the intro “Set Flame TO The Night” when the opener “The Race” was playing I noticed how much raw energy combined with melodic guitar hooks can this band provide. The concept of Arch Enemy songwriting has not changed, and why should it? One of the highlights of the album for sure is “The World Is Yours” with brutal but also anthemic chorus. What surprised me the most is clean singing on “Reason To Believe”, first in bands history and it sounds great. Alissa is really excellent vocalist, she proved that when she was still in her former band. Lyrically, this band always made dark but good, fighting and uplifting lyrics that made me full of strength. Summary:this album is no better than its predecessor, but it is also not worse, so they kept the same level and I loved it.
