(review) Probation-Violate(WTF Records)

3. COVER_PROBATION_VIOLATE_HIGHRES

Probation are from Holland and they have a new record with WTF Records. This is an interesting record in all of the songs it contains. Why? Because the music of Probation is basically an amalgamation of all members`music tastes and influences. You get brutal and harsh hardcore punk in basic, mixed with a lot of metal and sludge punk influences. I can also here some d-beat in Unveiling The Truth for example. There are enough hardcore fast parts to fill you up with energy, but also some groove metal modern mosh parts here and there, with slowed down dirty and gritty sludge swampy parts in some song sructures. The vocals are beautiful, ranging from almost death metal like growling, angry shouting in crusty style and screaming at the top of the lungs. This is heavy hitter and I love every single of this record. Recommended songs: Finished And Done, Blood Ditch, Can˙t Stand You.

(review) Mutant Reavers-Monster Punk

Mutant_Reavers_Mutant_Punks_Front Only

Mutant Reavers are back with their brand new record. German horrorpunk scene is rich with bands like The Other, The Crimson Ghosts, Jamie Rottencorpse…, but each of the bands retained a great dose of originality, not being anyone´s clone or trying to sound like someone else.

Mutant Reavers play their vision of horrorpunk with large dose of metal thrown here and there in the song structures, but sounding enough punk with their sci fi monster horror themes not to be metal, and enough metal not to be quite punk, but who cares, horrorpunk is nice scene because it takes large influences from all kinds of music. This new record is pretty harsh and raw sounding with 14 beautiful songs to add blood, gore, space and carnage to your pleasure. Vocals are raw, sometimes shouted, yet enough melodic where there is a need to sing melodic. The music is uptempo, fast and energetic like this genre should be. The songs I would love to recommend as highlights for me are: The Abstract Of Demon Hunting, The Night Of Halloween, Behind The Rows, Let Her In. Great record!

(review) M is We/Night Battles-Split(Broken Sound Tapes)

a1227212030_10

Broken Sound Tapes brings us split seven inch containing two post punk/punkrock bands from North Carolina, USA. M is We song is a post punk hymn called What You Carry, having almost etherial vocals, tempo and atmosphere that somehow carries you to some calmer different dimension of listening. The calm evolves into guitar driven chorus carrying emotion on a different higher level. Night Battles song called Flat On My Back I somehow liked better being maybe a bit more nervous riffing and more noise influenced, but more concrete and heavy and less etherial, although, don˙t get me wrong, both songs are really cool and this is a nice little release. Go check out Broken Sound Tapes and find something for yourself.
