KALAHARI Reveals Details for New EP, ‘Theia’

'Theia' Cover Artwork (1)

Italian metal band KALAHARI is proud to announce the signature with The Metallist PR agency for the worldwide promotion of the upcoming Theia EP, scheduled to be released on June, 26th. The new release will be available on their Bandcamp page (https://kalahariofficial.bandcamp.com/) as well as on the main digital platforms. Two videos are already available for the tracks Theia (https://bit.ly/KalahariTheia) and Followers of the Lich (https://bit.ly/KalahariLich).

The band members have a musical background that touches different shades of the metal genre. Powerful break-downs and galloping riffs alternated with acoustic arpeggios and sinuous melodies: the result is an overwhelming sound, which remains clean, and still. Vocalist Nicola Pellacani stated:

“Theia has been a hell of a ride. A 5 track EP might not seem that big of a deal on paper, but recording this thing was a real challenge for us. This record signs a transition for KALAHARI. We have always been an underground band and this represents our first approach with the environment of a professional studio. We understood there is still so much to learn, and this is the message we have for all the young bands like us out there: be hungry! Never stop learning and always listen, but chose well who you are going to listen to.”

Guitarist Gabriele Bartolucci added:

“We can define this EP as the glue that put us together. This record will not only take you on a journey with its concept, starting with Theia, catastrophic inception, and ending with Cabled Core, which signs the highest delusion, but will also bring you on a ride through the different shades of Metal that portrays us as singles and now as a whole. Trust us, listening to the Theia EP will keep your headphones tight around your ears… and we promise this is just the beginning!”

Theia EP has been recorded, mixed and mastered at Mathlab Recording Studio (The Agonist, Ingested, Cryptopsy) by Jonathan Mazzeo. The artwork is by Ludovico Cioffi – LC Artworks.

(review) FUCK You DRACU-FUCK OFF AND DRACU

a2434668036_10

Nice to see some bands from the east of Europe joining the worldwide underground network of nice bands, individuals, promoters, zines…FUCK You DRACU are from Bucharest, Romania and this is their new record. Here we get seven songs of rawer hardcore punk with lots of garage punk influences. All the song titles and lyrics are in Romanian langauge, so I don`t really understand what they are singing about, but the music is full of energy, with some really catchy and anthemic songs like for example Bataie Pe Alee, with streetpunk pure vibe. The vocals are shouted but also fit to the more melodic parts of guitar work. The drumming is fast and energetic and I would like very much to check these guys live. Other songs are also good, it is nice to hear some other bands, from other countries and discover new friends and new music.

Catbite released their Horizontal Aggression music video!

ad8f501c-5ae6-4bd9-b115-657bcb0aca18

On June 5th, California independent label, Bad Time Records, quietly released a split 7-inch that pairs Philadelphia’s soul-ska outfit, Catbite with East Bay’s newest ska-punk trio Omnigone – featuring members of the beloved late 90’s ska-core band Link 80. The blue/pink + splatter variant (200) sold out within a few days of the pre-order going live. Last week, Bad Time Records announced that a new neon pink variant (100) was available to purchase. Originally intended as the “band exclusive” variant both Catbite and Omnigone opted to have all proceeds donated to the National Black Arts Foundation. Along with the new variant, Catbite put together a music video for their cover of “Horizontal Aggression” (Omnigone). If you need two minutes of cats and dogs dancing to ska music then this is the video for you.

Bio:

Catbite is Brittany, Tim, Ben & Chris. To the uninitiated: they are your new favorite band, you just don’t know it yet. Blending ska with 50’s rock, soul & punk, their sound is simultaneously classic & forward-thinking. It’s music for the next generation of punks, you could put it on and dance with your grandmother to it. Their debut self-titled release on Bad Time Records has been well received by the music community, often sited as being a definitive example of how ska can be done right.
