(review) A Gathering of None-Give Up The Ghost

A Gathering of None started as a one man project by TB from Blitzkid, sometime in 2011 when those legends were going towards their end which happened in 2012 and TB wanted to do something new and inspiring. In time, it evolved into full band. This is the latest 6 song e.p.

The music of A Gathering of None is breaking all the boundaries and is situated somewhere between horror punk, metal and punk rock. Of course, there is no escape from horror punk influences and awesome melodies like in Maybe Someday, being at the same time horror punk anthem but also having nice metallic touch and groove to the riffs. Also, TB is one of my favorite vocals in the scene and his voice makes every song even more special. My other personal favorite on this record is Weed Them Out to which I can totally relate lyrically and personally, also being fantastic song musically, with that bass solo and heavy rolling drums through the song ending. Rise(One Last Grasp At Hope) is a ballad, which left goosebumps on my skin, with lyrics, atmosphere and all, especially with me being at the lowest point of my life this year since February and no, not due to that covid shit. There should be a new release in December, so have a listen to this excellent e.p. until that time.

(review) LOKI-DEMONIZE

Loki is a living legend of underground and horror punk scene. He spent years playing in notable bands such as Gotham Road, Argyle Goolsby, Mister Monster, Darrow Chemical Company…

I had luck that I met him in person when he played in Zagreb with Michale Graves prior to all that shit Michale did and said recently. I shook Loki´s hand and talked a bit with him about Darrow Chemical Company, past and future. He is very friendly and down to Earth guy.

Now, on his solo e.p. This e.p contains 6 songs in about a little more than twenty minutes. Three songs are his and they are nice mixture of metal influences and horror punk, I might say an amalgamation of what Loki did with his previous projects and best. His voice is very cool and melodic and fits perfectly to the songs. Three songs are covers by Eleven, Bouncing Souls and Hozier. My favorite songs on this e.p. are definitely Another Setback and Demon Eyes.

(review) Rot – Rot(demo)

Rot are from Mexico and this is the demo that came out couple of months ago. This one contains 6 songs, one being Misfits cover of Braineaters. Rot was spawned as a result of long fascination with everything monstrous, especially zombies, so it was kinda natural to do music in direction of horror, meaning horror punk, even zombie punk as some would call it. The demo starts with acoustic guitar and sound of thunder in Deceso delivering ominous atmospheric intro to the things. All songs are done on acoustic guitar, with melodic yet vocals with too much effect on the voice, I would love to hear these songs with clean melodic vocals without any effects, Marque Z para Zombies would be much better sounding song done in that way. Misfits cover has too loud vocals and too quiet guitar, but this is underground, so everything passes. The rest of the songs are short but sweet and would love to hear it with fast drums, real band and they would sound great. No matter, check this one out and support your horror scene.
