Jerkswitch release new single – Poking The Blind

Montreal reggae-infused punk unit Jerkswitch has released a new single titled Poking The Blind. It’s the band first new material since BUFO released in 2019. You can find the song via the most popular digital platforms HERE and read what frontman EJ Lang stated about the song below.

”Poking The Blind is a warm and unifying chant from the gutter straight to your speakers! Here to bring together the black sheep who refuse to fall asleep and fight for a better future.” – EJ Lang (Vocals)

Poking The Blind follows the recent video release of About A Punk, a song from the band’s most recent album, BUFO.

About Jerkswitch:

Born from the ashes of The Skudfux who disbanded last year, Jerkswitch features the same straight up punk vibe that blends elements of reggae and ska, just like The Skudfux used to offer, but now with new and more mature sound. The band is currently working on new music to be released in 2021.

(review) Talog – Karpatski Prijestolonasljednik/ Apoteoza Roda Neljudskoga

Time for something from my home country scene, namely Croatian underground scene. Talog was one of the first interviews that I did for this zine back in 2015 with Kktz, individual who is keeping the scene flame burning for more than four decades now through his work in various punk, hardcore, crust, noise and black metal projects and bands. Talog is his one man dark ambient/dungeon synth entity and this is the new release containing two songs with titles in Croatian language. We are talking here about dungeon synth mixed with dark ambient and black ambient, minimalistic but very, very effective. Horror atmosphere and vibe that Talog reaches in its music is impressive. Karpatski Prijestolonasljednik (Heir of Carpathian Throne) starts ominous with such superb eerie melody that you as a listener feel like you are part of the wind blowing over Carpathian mountains at sunset turning into the night. That is at least what I felt while listening to this one. You can see Sun disappearing from cold and sharp teeth of the mountains descending all wild and beautiful Carpathia into blessed night. Pure vampiric melancholy and evil. We the people of Balkans know a lot about vampiric lore around here, so this music fits perfectly to our darkened hearts. Second opus, Apoteoza Roda Neljudskoga (Apotheosis of Inhuman Kind) continues where its predecessor left off, delivering darkness and you almost sink into liquid darkness, the one you can feel while listening to this one. I must say that Talog delivered another masterpiece of darkness.

Discarded Self released new single. If you are into sludge check this killer one out!

Discarded Self ST Album Art

Discarded Self has posted the new song, “Orbitoclast” at their Bandcamp page here – https://discardedself.bandcamp.com/track/orbitoclast

The song comes from Discarded Self’s upcoming self-titled album, due out on April 30th via Sarcophagus Recordings. The album was recorded at Doom Tomb Studios in Lloydminster, Alberta Canada.

Jarret Beach, the person behind the one-man-band that is Discarded Self has this to say about the song “Orbitoclast”:
“The song Orbitoclast is a collection of riffs and vocal ideas I actually started this project with. It starts off slow, but gets straight down to it with a thrashy section that has shredding vocals bleeding all over it. For those that aren’t aware, an Orbitoclast is the instrument that is hammered into a person’s brain, when they were the poor individual who received a lobotomy in the late 40’s early 50’s. The song is of course about the horrifying practice of lobotomy, but has an extra hidden meaning. It’s a metaphor for giving your trust to someone who doesn’t have your best interests in mind, and only their own personal interest, with no concern of who they damage along the way.”
Flooding forth with misery and hate comes the first album from Discarded Self, the Canadian solo project from Jarret “Fuzzgod” Beach, who’s also a member of the bands Destroy My Brains and Ashes of Yggdrasil. Created during a time of personal isolation, the album “Discarded Self” ranges from tales of the macabre to introspective trips into self-loathing and personal degradation that dredge up terrible memories of the past to drown in personal regret. There is no hope for the future here.

Pre-orders through the bands Bandcamp page are available now, with other pre-orders opening soon through iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Napster, Deezer, Tik Tok and Tidal
