(review) Agent Steel – No Other Godz Before Me

Cover

It took several delays, but new seventh album by Agent Steel is out finally! Although of the founding members only singer Johnny Cyriis is left in the band, this is no matter for the ferocity and intensity of the music. New record contains 11 songs one being kinda intro. Music of Agent Steel is power/speed metal with fast and aggressive guitar work, melodic hooks and epic solos, fast drumming and trademark vocals courtesy of Johnny Cyriis. Thematically band delves in the lyrics about space, extraterrestrial life, conspiracies in the deep state and similar merry topics. Some of the songs will really make you pump fist in the air like awesome Crypts Of Galactic Damnation or The Devil´s Greatest Trick being my personal favorites. This one is an awesome album and it was worth waiting so many years since the last full length album. Welcome back legends!

8/10

(review) Dagorlath – 2010 -2020

Dagorlath album cover 2010 - 2020

Wow! This is all I can say after listening to new Dagorlath record! This band is hailing from Spain and I must admit that I am soo happy having listened to this one, because I love this record. Dagorlath celebrates tenth anniversary of the band and they released their best songs re-recorded. There are eight songs on this one. The music of Dagorlath is just the way I like it. Epic fast and furious melodic hymnic metal with warrior touch and makes me smile and pump my fist in the air and it cheers my heart in these dark times of no gigs and festivals yet. The lyrics are in Spanish, so I don´t really understand what they are singing about but the musicianship, speed, melodic and fast guitar riffs, hooks and especially vocals and backing vocal harmonies are so epic! I love Hoy debes luchar and it is one of my personal favorites on this record with those sweet, sweet, harmonies. This music is perfect for keeping the flame alive and making your old warrior´s heart pumping with fresh blood. My other personal favorites are Mithrandir and Llanto de fuego. Cheers Dagorlath and keep your armor shining and your swords high for another ten years at least!

(review) The Shan – X -Flies

The Shan are 3 – piece garage punk band from Edinburgh, Scotland. This is their brand new e.p. What can we find here? There are three songs on this wicked little record. The music of this band can be described as dirty and raw version of garage punk, but at the same time they retain wicked melodies and guitar hooks like that evil menacing melody that I love in Grave Love or majestic melody of Bits of Shit. The vocals are harsh, sometimes shouting, sometimes screaming yet fit perfectly to the song structures of The Shan. I would love to hear how this songs sound live, I am sure this band can provide a wicked live show with blitzes from guitars shooting all around. Bullets is about war if I am not mistaken and futility of it all. This is a wicked record, can´t wait for the full length.
