Pop-punk outfit URETHANE featuring legendary Hall of Fame professional skateboarder, a cultural icon, and guitarist Steve Caballero has revealed their very first single “Gravity” via Thrasher Magazine. Their debut album Chasing Horizons was produced, engineered, and mixed by Cameron Webb (Motörhead, Megadeth, Alkaline Trio, NOFX, Pennywise) and is due out on September 24th via Cyber Tracks. The band has a few shows coming up including Punk Rock Bowling, Born-Free Motorcycle Show, Shred Fest, Beachlife Festival, Gutter Fest, and Shred Fest as well as select dates with Agent Orange and Dead Kennedys (dates below).

The music video features renowned artist Mark de Salvo along with skateboarding legend and actor Kevin Staab who’s known for his work on Thrashin’ (1986), Barge at Will (1989), and The Last Day of Summer (2007). The song is now available on music streaming services. “We’re very honored to have Kevin Staab star in our video,” explains Steve Caballero. “For one, he’s such a recognizable ’80s skateboarding legend. Dude, come on! He’s the one that invented the trick half cab back in 1983.”

Chasing Horizons is jam-packed with catchy choruses and melodic hooks that range from mid-tempo sing-a-longs to aggressive fist-pumping screamers. Also, it was written during quarantine so the lyrical theme leans a bit dark. From depression (“Gravity”) to narcissism (“Avalanches” feat. Toby Morse of H2O) to the bad traits and genetics we inherit and are forced to live with (“Inheritance” feat. Jim Lindberg of Pennywise) to being your own worst enemy (“Love Letter Bombs”) to contentious relationships (“What You Get”) to love conquering even the darkest times (“What Becomes Of Us”) – lead vocalist and guitarist Tim Fennelly examines the challenges of everyday life.

URETHANE formed during the infectious pandemic in 2020. The lineup consists of vocalist/guitarist Tim Fennelly (War Fever), guitarist Steve Caballero (The Faction, Odd Man Out, Soda), bassist Chad Ruiz (Skipjack), and drummer Dylan Wade (The Bombpops). Their musical roots are undeniably influenced by punk rock, pop-punk, and melodic hardcore. Chasing Horizons is set for a September 24, 2021 release via Cyber Tracks.

(review) Taken By Vultures – The Geriatric Throne

Taken By Vultures are from Boston and this is their brand new debut release featuring intro and three songs. They play punk rock with raw side to it, yet retaining enough melody. If I must compare them to something, it would be a mixture of Jughead´s Revenge and Blitzkid. Vocals are superb, neither too raspy nor too mellow, just the way they should be for these songs. Lyrics are more on a fun side of things, but there are some personal undertones beneath it all. My personal favorite is Half In The Bag with that haunting chorus that infects you to sing along all day long. Also, Grandpa Joe Is A Dirty Freeloader is much fun. Can´t wait for the full length release. Until then, enjoy this one.

The band backgrounds the release:
“With the first glance of Carnal Delight is about a fucked up diet. Everyone can interpret symbolic meaning themselves but personally for me its about the death of love in this world filled with vanity and tempations”
