Santiago-Boston Old School Death Metallers OVERTOUN have signed with Wormholedeath a deal for the reissue of their album “This Darkness Feels Alive”, which is due for re-release on May 27th, 2022.

Overtoun signing statement: “We are truly honored and happy to sign this distribution deal with Wormholedeath. ‘This Darkness Feels Alive’ is an honest album that navigates through complex concepts of mental health, isolation, depression, etc; that came from the deepest part of ourselves. We invite everyone to listen to the record from start to finish, so hopefully you can connect with the sensations we had while writing it. All the work we did on the album was trying to achieve the best quality we could provide, thanks to the guidance of Pancho Arenas who produced and mixed it, the knowledge of Flemming Rasmussen who mastered the songs, and the incredible artwork of Paolo Girardi. The result we had as a team made us really proud, and we are excited to share this music to even more people. This partnership with Wormholedeath will help us elevate our career without a doubt. Everything we’ve done in music has been by our own and independently, so having the support of the label is important to us. We will do our best to keep spreading Latin American Metal to the rest of the world.”

Bringing back the brutal force and sounds of Old School Death Metal mixed with Latin American music, the revolutionary young band from Santiago/Boston has been spreading their talent, passion and energy all over the world, characterized with their outstanding musical quality and powerful social commentaries.
The group was born in the hands of Agustin Lobo (drums) and Matias Bahamondes (guitars) in early 2014, but they were not complete until the addition of Mexican vocalist Yoav Ruiz-Feingold, who joined in late 2017. They’ve not stopped working since the release of their debut album Centuries of Lies (2018), which originated from a demo tape called Eyes Wide Open (2016), that establishes a strong social commentary blended by the rage of Progressive Thrash. Going through various lineup changes, their toured their home country twice, getting a lot of recognition in national and international media.
Just in the past year, the renowned bassist Felipe Leyton joined them, finishing their search for an established lineup. Their hard-working attitude led them to write and record their sophomore album in a matter of months since the release of their first LP. They took their perfectionism to another level, searching for the best production quality in every aspect. Their second album ‘This Darkness Feels Alive’ is a record that goes inside the hell of the human mind, alongside a crushing attack of pure and organic Death Metal and It will be reissued via Wormholedeath worldwide.

ASH OF ASHES will release ‘Traces’ – brand new opus of epic skaldic metal! Here is the lyric video and details!

With the 2018 debut “Down The White Waters“, singer, guitarist and composer Skaldir attracted attention across genres. The triumphant EPIC SKALDIC METAL of ASH OF ASHES could even book several media top rankings worldwide.

The fact that the exceptional aesthete from Germany was so successful right from the start with his successor band to HEL, founded in 2014, was primarily due to the captivatingly artistic musicality of this unique album.

The necessary time, which the talented maestro left himself for the now appearing successor, fully benefits every single piece on “Traces” without exception.

Everything should be as accomplished as equally natural and organic – as the wonderfully picturesque artwork of the talented Norwegian Christopher Rakkestad clearly shows. A feast for tasteful eyes.

Singer Morten on the thematic content of “Into Eternity“:
“The song is about the narrator’s thoughts and memories when saying goodbye to a deceased friend. In addition, it echoes the question of what will remain of us in the future, after our passing.”

LINE-UP:
Skaldir • Vocals, Guitars, Keyboards, Bass
Morten • Lyrics, Vocals

(review) Abbath – Dread Reaver (Season of Mist)

One of the icons and legends of Norwegian black metal scene is back. Yes, Abbath is back with his third opus and it is a blast. Former Immortal main man managed to defeat his personal demons and he is back strong and presenting strong opus of nine songs, one being Metallica cover. I can say that new record is more versatile than ever. Don´t get me wrong, Abbath didn´t start to play folk metal, it is versatile in extreme metal waters, with many influences of thrash metal in the song structures, also death metal in opener Acid Haze, but for me a nice surprise was involvement of something like mandoline melody at the start of one of my personal favorites being Dream Cult. Black metal roots are still there, especially in Abbath´s trademark voice that you are able to recognize anywhere and anytime. Also, Myrmidon is thrash metal influences aggressive anthem with wicked guitar solo and melancholic melody underneath it all. Cover of Metallica´s Trapped Under Ice thematically and musically fits perfectly to this album in case you wondered why Abbath covered Metallica. This album is high energy cold riffing, black thrash death metal at its finest and I can hardly wait to witness this live.

For sure one of the contenders for best releases in 2022 and we have just started.
