BOSPARANS FALL: ‘Götterspiel: Dunkle Zeiten’ will be released on May 26!

The upcoming album by the German RPG melodic death metallers BOSPARANS FALL is entering the home stretch. The album will be called ‘Götterspiel: Dunkle Zeiten’ and will be released on May 26 via Black Sunset/MDD. The album tells the first part of a trilogy story about the warrior Alrik Immerda, who, 1019 years after the battle on Bosparan’s battlements, is drawn into the preparations for the ancient rituals that have been going on for almost two decades. Role-playing game fans should already be alerted to the band’s name, for the whole thing is actually set in Aventuria, a fantasy world from the German Pen&Paper role-playing game ‘Das Schwarze Auge’. Musically, 10 tracks of predominantly melodic death metal await you, but they don’t stop at bordering extreme metal genres either. Be prepared!

(review) Ikarie – ‘Arde’ (Avantgarde Music)

Spanish doom metallers Ikarie are back with new sophomore opus. The six piece doom/post metallers’ second opus is out with Avantgarde Music. As the band states this is continuation of the story told on their debut album ‘Cuerpos En Sombra’ two years ago. But, this one speaks thematically of anger, burning rage, victims burning metaphysically and literally fire and starting from new beginnings, whether not knowing or knowing they are in fact victims. This opus contains ten songs, with couple of them serving as instrumental intermezzos, preparing for the next storm ahead. Music of Ikarie is rawer and dirtier version of doom metal with thundering distorted bass, raw guitars, sludgy atmosphere and raw, anguished vocals bordering on death growls. But, there are couple of excursions into post metal waters, especially in guitar department, but there are also couple of melancholic great melodies to emphasize anguish and despair, like in fantastic ‘La Sed’ which is, along with ‘Surcos(Cituat Morta)’ and ‘Santa Sangre’ my personal favorite on this opus. I would love to hear this one performed live, I am sure these guys deliver wall of despair and guitar doom that makes goosebumps upon my skin. Great second opus by Spaniards.

(news – new single/video) FINNISH BLACK DEATH METAL BAND ANIMA HERETICAE RELEASES NEW MUSIC VIDEO ‘CIMMERIAN DARKNESS’ !

After the 2021 debut EP “Ov Behest” Finnish blackened death metal band Anima Hereticae has been working on their first full length album to be released in Autumn 2023. The band’s unique sound is a combination of Scandinavian melodic metal, death metal with black metal elements. The music goes in symbiosis with the visuals, both in live shows and on videos. Now released music video Cimmerian Darkness presents a view to the upcoming debut album’s beauty and epicness.

‘Even though pretty much anything we do has the sense of darkness and despair, this song has also a hint of hope in it. Creating new music is quite therapeutic and healing experience for us. And so was the writing of this song – a meditative and self-reflecting process. Some times as wondering this world we live in it feels like we are living in Cimmerian darkness on the edge of the world.’ Ville Rutanen and Taneli Jämsä background the song.

The music video is directed by the Anima Hereticae drummer Teppo Ristola and as an actor there is Jussi Matilainen from Where’s My Bible.
