Finnish modern melodic metal band Northern Genocide is set to release their second studio album The Point of No Return on March 1st 2024 via Inverse Records

The third single ‘To Serve The Pestilence’ is released today with a music video https://youtu.be/h0TyPoejvQE

Comments from the band:
“To Serve the Pestilence tells about a world of misinformation and lies where man has no chance to find the truth. The song is a sweet taste of the more old school Northern Genocide sound. The catchy chorus and hooks will make even the most cynical listener pump their fist in the air. The song is a display of skill from the band’s bassist Arto, as he has co-written the lyrics with Tommi and shows his ability to growl throughout the song.”

The second single Necropolis which features Tommy Tuovinen from MyGrain is available here: https://youtu.be/NOQDWPmP1Eg

Music video of the first single, Harbingers of Genocide, is available here: https://youtu.be/s0kFWzEoDX0

BIOGRAPHY:
Northern Genocide was established in 2010 in Helsinki, Finland. It all started with a meeting of old high school friends, guitar player Pyry Pohjanpalo and producer Rainer Pekkinen, after Pyry had discovered Rainer’s interest in programming and computer music. They both had a history of playing in various metal bands, but now they wanted to try something different by bringing electronic influences to metal. The very same year they started recording demos in their home studio.

In 2012 a crew was put together for gigs and new demos. In december 2013 the band began recording a new 3-track demo. After some changes to the initial line-up of the band, the demo was recorded with Markku Tuuri in drums, Toni Jokiranta in bass, Pyry in guitars and Tommi Salonen as vocalist. The demo “Atlantis” was finished in October 2014. Shortly after work began towards a 5-track EP ”Planet Asylum” which was released in 2015.

2019 the debut album “Genesis vol. 666” was released through Inverse Records. The release was a success, and the only song written in Finnish, called Ikiruoste, proved to be a guiding star of the album. The style of NG’s music had already started to evolve away from the industrial metal influenced sound towards more modern melodic metal. Genesis, Vol. 666 album recently reached 1 Million streams on Spotify.

In 2020 began the work towards releasing another full length album. During the long cold winter a few band members moved aside, resulting in Jussi Pulliainen taking the 2nd guitar role and Arto Viitanen picking up the bass guitar. An epic discovery was Leo Korhonen to play the drums. With just 1 month of practice he mastered his parts ready to be recorded for the album.

The new album ”The Point of No Return” was finally finished in the summer of 2023. The process of making the new album was long but it surely paid off. This time no compromises were accepted in the production process and the album surely presents the best of NG to date. The new ideas and the combined effort of the whole band resulted in a solid, banging and rich album. The album picks up where ”Genesis vol. 666” left off featuring even more aggressive guitar riffs and massive orchestrations. The contribution from various featuring vocalists (Stephanie MazorTommy Tuovinen) and instrumentalists adds depth to the songs throughout the album. Lyrics written by Tommi criticize world overpopulation, corruption, abuse of power and describe the dark side of the human mind.

The album will be released on March 1st 2024 through Inverse Records and pre-sale is available HERE

With strong, moody vocals and solid guitar features Hani Abadi release new album “Tiamat”

With anything but a dull musical journey, Abadi has taken on his first solo project since being part of Bilocate, a dark metal band. Originally from what was formerly known as Yugoslavia, Abadi explains he is from a place that labels anyone a satanist for looking different or listening to music that is misunderstood. With Bilocate, he rebelled through music and even risked imprisonment with shows that were eventually shut down by authorities. Today, the musician calls California home, and he can’t recall the last time he performed the last time he played in his country, Jordan.

Now, after a history of musical rebellion, comes his first solo project: a collection of personal stories enveloped in a delicate and emotive album.

“Tiamat” is a deeply personal creation. Abadi does not shy away from the tough stuff as he wanders through the emotional heartache of losing family members while miles away, the darkness of disease, and how our lives have collectively changed since the pandemic. Emotion is felt in every track through moving melodies and powerful songwriting. Tiamat is truly an honest creation. The multi-talented composer explains the album has no restraints — it is just music that led the way.

The album knows no genre or style. With strong, moody vocals and solid guitar features, it’s clear Abadi’s rock influences are present alongside alternative and folk elements. With honesty and deep emotion, Abadi has poured his heart into “Oblivion,” which follows themes of loss and reflection.

After years of writing, composing, and creating, Tiamat was finally recorded, many of the parts of which were recorded in Abadi’s home studio in the Bay Area. And while it is a solo project, Abadi feels fortunate to have connected with other international musicians, notably drummer Eduardo Sinatra and mixing engineer Tom Maclean, among other talented artists.

“Everyone who participated and contributed to this album has been patient with me, and I firmly believe this whole record wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for all those incredible souls,” says Abadi.

Hani Abadi is a name to watch out for. This is only the beginning of his expression and genre-defying creations. Tiamat, Abadi’s innermost emotions reflected in an impressive soundscape, will soon be yours to discover.
