I love Kvar since their debut full length album SSS more than decade ago. I am very glad that they are back after some pause that the scene didn’t hear for them. Kvar are coming from Zagreb, capitol of Croatia and this new E.P. contains 4 songs, 3 in Croatian and 1 in English language. The lyrics are personal but at the same time critical of society that we live in. Music is a mixture of melodic punk, some hardcore punk and ska/reggae and it is a perfect blend. My personal favorites on this one are Iskreno(Sincerely) and Ovaj svijet(This World). This band also rocks live, so if you have an ability to check them out do that! Welcome back Kvar! We are waiting for more new music!
Alex Garland wrote and directed this dystopian sci fi war movie set in not too distant future. The story of this movie revolves around four journalists who travel across the United States during a nation-wide conflict. While trying to survive, they aim to reach the White House to interview the president before he is overthrown. The movie depicts all the hardships and brutality that they encounter along the way including brutal killings war crines, paramilitary militia, senseless killings and the finally arrive to Washington, where all the final action of the movie takes place. Kirsten Dunst is Lee, seasond journalist veteran tired of war and reporting from all the action. Wagner Moura is Joel, kinda fanatic and adrenaline junkie, Caliee Spaeny plays Jessie, young and hungry journalist who has no experience and it is fascinating how she transforms into hardened battle journalist without scrupules whatsoever. There are three factions waging war in United States, but it is not explained what is the reason. It is not needed, because it emphasizes senseless killing done in the name of whatever. Acting is flawless, action scenes are many and done perfectly and it is safe to say, this one is a keeper for all of you who love your sci fi dystopian, but also all of you who like war movies. I recommend this one.
