(review) Black Bullet – Fuck You

Good people at Undead Artists continue to deliver some of the best music that is new and exciting, energetic and contains raw, primal power of rock n roll.  Such is the case with Spanish Black Bullet who just released their new album. What are we getting with this record? Well, we get twelve songs of primal, raw and high octane rock with punk, garage punk and some heavy influences. I must admit that I was not a fan of such music when I was younger, fast and angry hardcore and melodic punk were my thing and this music was just too much rock and roll-ish and I just couldn´t feel anything while listening to such bands. But, later on that changed. I can feel energy like fire coursing through my veins while listening to this album. All songs are up tempo straightforward rock and roll, punk rock with no holds barred, cutting guitars, shouted vocals, some melodies here and there and catchy guitar hooks thrown in for good measure and a bit of keyboard backs like in Never Too Much which is also hard rock influenced. My personal favorites are Black Bullet, Fuck You and This Is The End. Check this one out.

La Armada release new single & album preorders!

Following the Opias EP featuring singles Death On ReplayWhite Jesus & All We Know, La Armada are back with a brand new single accompanied by a music video and a date for the release of their album ‘Anti Colonial Vol 2’.

Hardcore punk meets Carribbean roots in ‘Checkmate Humanity’. Raging guitars, tribal drumming and thumping bass collide for a fierce, genre-defying sound reminiscent of Bad Brains and Rage Against the Machine.
The song asks ‘who or what conquers me?’; Encouraging awareness of the things we consume.

La Armada captured the personal and global tribulations of 2020 in three separate stints at Chicago’s Electrical Audio Studios. The sessions resulted in Anti-Colonial Vol. 2 – An 11 song album that looks to leave their distinct mark on heavy music.
Preorders are available from Nov 16 here: https://www.lockjawrecords.co.uk/la-armada-anti-colonial-vol-2/

(review) United Defiance – Change The Frequency (Thousand Islands Records/Morning Wood Records)

United Defiance are hailing from East Bay area in California and this is their new release. I must admit that I have not listened to this band prior to this record but I am so glad that I discovered them now. What to expect here? Well, a jewel. This band offers something that I love since the nineties, being old school melodic hardcore punk, skatepunk, sounding more like having influence from the nineties than modern technical stuff. Of course, that does not mean these guys can´t play, quite the contrary. This whole album has kinda sad and melancholic vibe, at least it has such impact on me while listening. But, all those harmonies, those vocal lines and sing along parts, coupled with fast drums, great bass lines and guitar harmonies are sure to win you over and make you listening to this record over and over again, discovering your new favorite all the time. Lyrics are more into personal stuff, but I think most of us being into this music can relate to the songs. As a special treat, United Defiance covered We´re Not Gonna Take It featuring guest performance by none other than Jason DeVore of Authority Zero. My personal favorite are Running Out Of Time, Cool Kids Club, Empty Advice and Sing With Me. This is for sure one of the best melodic punk releases to come out this year. Can´t wait to witness this band live.
