After delivering one e.p. in 2018, this is Adamantis debut full length album. This band is hailing from Boston, USA and there are eleven songs on this record, first(Into The Realm) being kinda intro. The music is epic and melodic power/heavy metal, fast and furious with beautiful melodies, courtesy of awesome singer Jeff Stark and so melodic and almost soundtrack sounding guitar riffs of guitarist Javier Estrada and Jeff Taft. The rhythm section of Cody Pelchat on bass and Evgeny Gromovoy on drums is thundering through the song structures like warhorse in the battle. Of all the songs if I must say some personal favorites of mine, that would be Pupeteer´s Bane and Fire And Brimstone., also Journey´s End. This record is one more proof why heavy metal is the most noble and most great music on planet Earth besides skatepunk and horror punk too.
Portlandś Wired Shut released their demo tape with Modern Illusion Records for EU and it contains three songs. Featuring current and former members of Hoods and Sinking Ships, this band plays hardcore just the way I like it, fast and furious, done in an old school not those coded messages in slowed down songs hehe. Manipulator is a fast and raw song with some catchy guitar work and lyrics that all hardcore scenes in the world can relate to, liars and manipulators who corrupt our scene with their existence. Again And Again is for me the best song on this tape, being an anthem with solid street punk roots and as I read the lyrics, I think they are about addiction and not getting out of the toxic loop. Stay Away is a short but sweet hardcore bomb. Can´t wait for the new material to come out!
That is what I need on a shitty Monday afternoon to make my life good and music to pump blood to my old black heart. The Mary Lous are hailing from New Jersey area and this is their first album.
This record contains 10 songs of spooky ukey music. These ghouls play a mixture of horror punk, pop punk and some doo wop and psychobilly thrown in the song structures for good measure. The lyrics are horror enough, but also humor enough and with songs like I Wish Bruce Campbell Was My Boyfriend or Dead Girls Don´t Say No To Donuts, this band is sure to win you over. My personal favorites on the record are Going To The Chapel and When My Brain Falls Out. In some songs, these ghoulettes remind me of early The Creepshow in some segments and also they remind me of something I would listen cruising around on a warm Summer Saturday night on the streets of some small town like Haddonfield ahaha. I love the girls´ voices how they create beautiful harmonies singing and the songs are not your typical in your face-hit-me horror punk but really gentler and more almost ethereal and haunting, but for the fans of darkness and melody, this one is perfect. Go get this one!
