Fixion are hailling from Uruguay, being a brainchild of Daniel César (former bassist of Los Traidores), voice, guitar, keyboards and production. There are 10 songs on this record. The music of Fixion can be described as a mixture of electronic, gothic metal and post punk, thus creating a darkened amalgamation of mentioned styles into one unique and nice blend of darkness. The lyrics are in Spanish and this only emphasizes the darkened beauty of the music. I love the more uptempo gothic metal of Estreall interior, but also more guitar oriented title song is one of my favorites on this record. The vocals remind me a bit of singer for Heroes Del Silencio mixed with the voice of Moonspell´s singer, so they are cool and fit perfectly to the song structures. This is nothing above or special, but it is done in nice and superb way with one simple trick. Nothing too much. Not too much metal, not too much electronics, not too much post punk, but great written songs. Nice one indeed!
Wow! I heard of this documentary a while ago, but never saw it until now. This Czech movie is about student who gets an assignment to make a study about metal and he then finds about the band called Malignant Tumour who have been playing since 1991., the movie was made in 2016.so it was 25 years they played back then. This movie is about the band, but also about discovering metal and punk hardcore scene, underground, which becomes eternal love for the main protagonist through going to gigs, hanging out, even becoming friends with the band. It also provides a fine picture of the band, since their extreme grindcore beginnings, to nowadays they provide hell of a show with their mixture of crust punk and roll. Their charismatic frontman Bilos and the rest of the band speak about the band and the past also present themselves, but also lot of extreme underground music legends talk about the band in the movie. I almost choked laughing in the part of the movie where band gets Czech music award for the best hard and heavy band, you should see that and also I would recommend this movie, I am not total fan of the band. Great one!
It has been two decades since Shades Apart released new music if I am not mistaken. The New Jersey power trio is releasing their new record with HellMinded Records. The new one contains 10 songs. The music of Shades Apart was really boring to me back in the nineties when I was a ferocious hardcore kid, knowing only speed, gang back vocals, nyhc and nothing more with those old school Fat and Epitaph bands too being part of my listening and growing up. I remember my friend Igor borrowed me a tape where one Shades Apart album was on one side and I think Nofx on the other side. I dismissed SA after two songs being too indie, too boring for me at that time. Now, as I listen the new album, all those punkrock melodic songs, being almost 43 years old now, I realize how wrong was I and how great this band is. This album fits me like chocolate pudding, meaning great. The songs have just the right balance between upbeat more rock and punk songs like Thread for example, but I love kinda more emotional songs like Only Light or Teach Me How To Live. The musicianship is superb, having everything from pop punk sensibility to more harsh approach with nice vocals, great backing vocal lines and I just love this album, if I must name one favorite song it would be 95, I can totally relate to the song and lyrics hehe, Super album and welcome back!
