(review) NOFX-The Decline Live At Red Rocks(Fat Wreck Chords)

00-nofx-the_decline_(live_at_red_rocks)-(vinyl)-proof-2020

Who said that punkrock and symphonic orchestra dontgo together like cheese and ham sandwich? Well, they do! At least in case of Nofx. Legendary Fat Mike and his gang recorded their most epic and longest song ever live with the help of orchestra and it sounds just phenomenal. So, besides being epic and melancholic like this song is in its original version, this live rendition makes it even more fantastic with all the brass instruments thrown in, symphonic atmospheric parts and overall kinda sad, melancholic vibe that this song always had one me while listening. But, the real jewel also lies in the second half of the record with the new song Linewleum being partly cover of the band´s most known song Linoleum, but with awesome, sarcastic and cheesy lyrics, yet still serious, like we were used to in the best days of this legendary skatepunks from California. The guest features Avenged Sevenfold on guitars and it sounds awesome! Go get this one!

(review) Even Death-Suffer Like the Rest of Us

Even Death are hailing from Phoenix, Arizona and this is their debut demo. There are three songs on this demo. The music is hardcore but more on metalic side of things, like all the nineties playing bands, but keeping one foot in modern hardcore scene. Moshing parts, cutting guitars and pumping bass mix with some faster more straightforward hardcore punk song parts like in Regret. The lyrics to the songs are good and being personal, but having that somehow bittered and angry theme between the lines. My personal favorite of all three songs is Suffer Like the Rest of Us, because it is the most heavy, yet somehow the most epic song on a record. Really strong first demo!

(review)5¢ Freakshow-Acoustic Abominations

Man, I grew to love and hold this band in special part of my heart being sincere and great horrorpunk band. No bullshit, no philosophy, just great songs with nice harmonies, cool vocals and beautiful written songs.

This time, because all of the covid virus shit, no gigs and stuff, the guys delivered an acoustic e.p. to treat us, their fans with something nice and special. There are three songs on this record, namely Co-Ed, Zap Nap and Satanic Mastermind, wtih Zap Nap being my personal favorite. All of the songs have gritty lyrics like we are used to from great horrrorpunk bands. I love how the guys use influence of doo wop sound in some song parts, that is my guilty pleasure, listening to doo wop, so incorporated into horrorpunk, it just sounds so good. I am not an avid fan of acoustic records, but some are worth listening, this is one of such.
