Formed in the multi-cultural hub of London, LIVINGSTON are Beukes Willemse and guitarist / keyboardist Chris van Niekerk from South Africa, drummer Jan Siekmann from Germany and bassist Phil Magee from the UK.
Finding their feet with 2009’s debut “Sign Language” and 2012’s “Fire To Fire” (Universal Music Germany), the band achieved numerous successes including Top 20 in the German Sales Charts and Number 1 on the Amazon & iTunes Rock Charts as well as iTunes Newcomer Album of the Year 2010. Their single “Broken” went to Top 20 and their second single “Go” was the official song for German national broadcaster ZDF during the Winter Olympics of 2010. Their music has also been featured in numerous TV shows. Their single “Human” reached N°4 of the European Charts.
While waiting for their new record “This is a Robbery” to be released, LIVINGSTON are back with a new single, titled “Show Me the Money”. On this new song, Chris (guitar / keyboards) comments:
Well this one is a bit of a mutant. It’s a track that has come quite a long way with us and started it’s life as 2 completely different songs. A few years ago Chris and Phil had written an electro track called “Steam”. In case you’re wondering, I am Chris and yes, I just wrote about myself in the 3rd person. At pretty much the same time and “Steam” was written, Beukes had written another track which was kind of Hip Hop-esk which he called “Show Me The Money”. But at that stage we saw no connection between the two. About a year later I was driving to a holiday destination and I listened to both tracks and thought they might be interesting to somehow mould together. So when I arrived at my destination (to the delight of my girlfriend) I started to work on the mutant and then Show Me The Money was born.
It took while longer before we started proper production on it, but we knew there was something special about it. As with all our songs, the meanings are kind of abstract. One of us might think it’s about one thing, and someone else thinks it’s about another. To me at least the song becomes some kind of a personification of money, as if it is a real person. It reminds me a bit about a documentary that I saw years ago called “The Corporation”. Similarly there they psychoanalysed corporations as if they were a person. But as is the case will all our songs, you make up your own mind what the song is about to you. Cheesy but true.”

Metalcore-Second Arrows (members of Deadguy, Every Time I Die, Nora, Ensign) release Galactic!

c40dc6a1-025b-4c20-90d7-020d7e43609f

Second Arrows, the new metal-core outfit featuring current and former members of Deadguy, Every Time I Die, Nora, and Ensign, have just released a brand new single. “Galactic” comes from their upcoming self-titled debut on New Jersey indie label, Hellminded Records. Produced and recorded by Kevin Antreassian of Dillinger Escape Plan, “Galactic” is a crushing mix of metal and hardcore with moments of space rock amidst all of the chaos. “Sonically and lyrically, Galactic covers all of the ground that we as a band want to cover – driving, spacey, frenetic, and back again.” – Dan Brennan. “Galactic” is currently streaming at Lambgoat.com. Second Arrows – S/T is available on digital and vinyl on June 26th, 2020. Vinyl pre-orders are available through Hellminded Records.

Bio:

In a time when the familiar, the comfortable, and the nostalgic rule the day, Second Arrows have a far more ambitious goal: to create something entirely new, more than just the sum of its parts.

Heralding current members of Deadguy and former members of Every Time I Die among others, Second Arrows push beyond the hallmarks of their collective résumés in heavy music, weaving experimental elements of indie and stoner rock in order to create something at once energetic and raw, yet focused in its execution.

Across eight pieces, Second Arrows’ debut SELF TITLED, produced and recorded by Kevin Antreassian (Dillinger Escape Plan) pushes sonic boundaries to create layers of sound and feeling that exist at the opposite ends of every spectrum: lush and abrasive, whispered and guttural, linear and meandering.

Representing both a complete story all its own and the opening chapter in a journey still unfolding, Second Arrows SELF TITLED encapsulates an enthralling first step for a band that refuses to create on anything but their own terms.

Punk band Captain Kaiser pays homage to the local bar in new song Moscow Mule

Missing your local bar in the midst of this pandemic? The guys in Captain Kaiser certainly are. The punk band hailing from the Belgian Kempen is known for its members spending many a night hanging out at the local bar and playing packed pub shows. They thought it was about time they payed tribute to their favorite drinking places.

The result is Moscow Mule. Captain Kaiser’s new single pays homage to the local bar, where the sun comes up again before you know it and the loyal bartender knows exactly the drink you want without asking.
The video clip features the band dancing in front of their own local bar and a number of friends who were asked to do the same thing. You might recognize Equal Idiot’s Thibault Christiansen  and Fleddy Melculy.

The band now challenges all local bar enthusiasts to do the same and share a video of themselves dancing in front of their own favorite bars.
‘Belgium traditionally has a major bar-loving culture and it goes without saying that we need to cherish it,’ says front man Sascha Vansant, a bartender himself.
