(review) The Slime – Death Champs

The Slime are no strangers to the pages of this zine.  Hailing from Toronto, Canada, these guys have been around delivering their all out attack of thrash hardcore punk and this time they released their new two song e.p. Both songs called Death Champs and We Shine are fantastic, raw and noisy, but somehow I like We Shine better, only because it is faster and more thrash oriented than more mid tempo yet raw street gutter punk oriented Death Champs. Screaming vocals, blistering guitars and thundering bass and drums are so sweet to hear. Lyrics are good, a but metaphoric yet they fit perfectly to the music. Check this one out.

(review) Missstand – Bon Apathie

cover

Austrian punks Missstand are in no way strangers to the pages of this zine. After I watched and listened to their fantastic show at now defunct Tepih na paleti festival in Slovenia couple of years ago, I interviewed the guys for this zine. Now, I am happy being able to listen to new record that is out for a week or so. This time there are 13 new songs and boy do they sound great. Missstand play an energy bomb of fast and melodic punk with super lyrics in German and occasional in English that are smart mix of personal and political coupled with dual vocals and great guitar work. I don´t know how to explain this but the music of this band always makes me want to pump my fist in the air and hug the sweaty kid in the pit next to me. This is punk rock par excellence. My favorite songs are: Bonjour Tristesse, Heute Alles and Morgen Nichts.

(review) No More Idols – Full e.p. 2021

Croatian punk veterans No More Idols from Zagreb recently released new e.p. containing couple of songs from their forthcoming new album. This one was recorded, mixed and mastered between Zagreb and Manchester and contains three songs. I love the new material it is so energetic and melodic. Lyrics are in Croatian and deal with personal side of things. Zna sve is a fast hardcore punk song with lots of melody and remaining raw and punk as fuck. Nikada dosta is more of a punk rock street anthem with dirty riffs and superb chorus of the song preceded by nice bridge. Obavijest is for me the best song on this record being an epic anthem with sharp Žikk´s vocals and guitars that cut and deliver melodic hooks at the same time. Can´t wait for the new album.
