Danish thrash metal veterans Artillery are back with a new album via Metal Blade Records. This tenth full length, thus the name offers 11 songs of nice European old school thrash metal with lots of aggression, speed yet also melodic vocal lines and some excellent melodies in guitar solo department and some catchy hooks. There is also a ballad on this one being Ghost Of Me and I like it. My personal favorites on this album are InThrash We Trust, Turn Up The Rage and The Force Of Indifference. Vocals are more clean and melodic varying from angry shouting to more melodic singing and Michael Bastholm Dahl does a great job. Musicianship is tight and this is one of the best thrash albums this year, but also two or three years back. Go listen.
I have waited for a long time to read this one and now that I have, I must say that I am satisfied with this book. Bad Religion are one of the most important punk rock bands in the world and especially in melodic punk hardcore genre and they recently celebrated 40 years in the scene. This book is an autobiography of all ups and downs, from early days till today. Depicts all line-up changes and heartbreaks, alcohol and drug abuse problems and major label controversy. Also, this book has healthy dose of anecdotes that I wanted to read about mixed with more historical contents, like the rise of Epitaph Records and all that punk rock boom in the nineties. This band was always special to me, because through their album Generator I discovered melodic punk and skatepunk scene and my life hasn´t been the same since, that being my other love besides metal. This book is easy to read, it is interesting and doesn´t let up until the very end making you go play all your favorite BR records and songs over and over again celebrating this great band. I saw them play live only once in 2018 and I will definitely check them out as soon gigs and festivals start again. Until then, go get this nice book.
The good people at Nuclear Winter Records continue to do an amazing job with re releasing some jewels of Australian underground that people like me haven´t had chance to hear prior to this re releases. One of them is Temple Nightside. They were formed in 2010 with intention to play Death Metal Necromancy and today this band consists of current and former members from many notable Australian and New Zealand bands, including Ill Omen, Grave Upheaval, Diocletian, Nazxul, Ulcerate, and Vassafor, to name but a few. This is a re release of their debut record containing music that will melt your face off. The music of Temple Nightside is a raw and blistering all out attack of black death metal, kinda reminding me of Archgoat in a way. Meaning dark atmosphere that you can cut with a knife, blast beats, apocalyptic sharp guitar riffs, thundering bass and growling death metal vocals. This record is pure evil and I love it. Songs are not long, but hit you right in your face. This is a great one indeed.
