The Bombpops were always for me a band that was better sounding live than on their releases. Well, the new album is a candy for your listening pleasure. I can safely say that it is their best record to date, with so many superb melodies, anthemic singalong choruses. beautiful harmonies of the dual vocals. Jen and Poli do such fine job with interplaying their voices thus creating soundscape that makes you smile and brights up your day. Of all the 12 songs my favorites are hard to pick, but I will try. They are: Double Arrows Down, Sad To Me, In The Doghouse. This is one of the better albums that came out in this fucked up and sad year.
Part Time Killer are from north, precisely Finland and play the style of punkrock that I love the most. That means melodic skatepunk with both legs firmly in the nineties and all those old school Fat and Epitaph influenced bands. This record contains 12 songs with lyrics bordering on the fine line between personal and political and I as a fan, also as hardcore kid can relate to. Vocals are superb, hard yet melodic and backing vocal harmonies are heavenly. The songs are catchy, varied and I love every single minute of this album making it one of my favorite listens in the last two weeks or so. Personal favorites: Giving Up!, Welfare State, Insane And Free.
Zombies No were originally rooted in Venezuela, yet now from Paris, France. This is a very strong e.p. containing 5 song of energetic, protesting melodic hardcore punk, sounding fresh and modern, technical yet having that old school vibe and lyrics that are rebellious yet all of us can relate to. The beauty of No Surrender made me jump all over my room, then Into The Wild blew me away with even more speed and melody making goosebumps on my skin while listening to that Maidenesque part of the song hehe. What Went Wrong is a punkrock anthem made for pumping fist in the air evolving from slower verse to superb fast chorus. Burn speaks about importance of eternal rebellion, keeping the flame of freedom alive in your heart. Falling Back is the last one I am listening and am longing for full record. Awesome!
