Milhouse Van Halen is a drummer for Tio Rico from UK and this is his new release out with Horn & Hoof Records. I listened and reviewed it for our zine.
The e.p. contains two songs of acoustic and heartfelt punkrock and one is relative short song called Unemployment which hits right in the target with nice melody although it is short and another one is a bit longer called Paper Lanterns and it is a nice bit of melodic and acoustic punkrock. Horn & Hoof plans to release a 12 EP’s over the course of 12 months and this is the first one in that series. Interesting idea and interesting music, so give this one a try.
Remember Southpaw? A while ago we did a review of their great record called Disconnected and now is the time for us to listen to the new stuff by this great band, out with Jukebox Romeo Records.
I love how this band managed to sound dirty, gritty, yet melodic from their last record to this new one without losing that primal punkrock fast energetic touch. They still sound to me like a cross between Cancerslug and Jughead´s Revenge, the latter especially with the awesome raspy and melodic vocal lines that this band provides. There are four songs on this new record and all of them are just perfect, so it is very hard for me to divide which one is my favorite. If I must, I would go with Do You Remember and Lost somehow being my favorites. The song structures are varied from faster, more straightforward hardcore punk to slower and more emotional song parts making the record one perfect whole to enjoy and listen to over and over again. To sum it all up, another superb record by this great band.
Scared Shitless are horrorpunk band from Pittsburgh and I listened and reviewed their new record for our zine.
I must admit that I have never heard of this band with cool name prior to this record but I am now glad I did. This record contains five songs of metalic horrorpunk with riffs not unlike the newer phase of Misfits. But, not to say that this is one of them ´Fits clones, quite the contrary this band is original, melodic, great sounding and fresh like the stench of the few days dead cadaver. The songs like Picnic At The Gallows, Fallout Girl and Borden House are sure to become instant classics. The vocals are melodic yet rough sounding and have edge, almost partly growled in the middle of the title track and fit perfectly to the interesting song structures. Musicianship is tight, songs are fun, so there is the new band for your ears pleasure. Go grab this one, you won´t be sorry, the new wave of horrorpunk is so fresh and interesting!
