(record review)SLOVENIANS-Al Dente(P.o.g.o. Records)

The story behind Belgian punkrock band Slovenians is full of turbulence, intense and heartbreaking tragedy. This is their record which I listened and reviewed for this zine.

The band is coming from Brussels, Belgium and they were formed in 2012. They are known for their high energetic shows delivering high energy punkrock in your faces and ears. In 2017. the guys lost their friend and lead guitarist in a tragic accident.

The rest of the guys agreed to carry on in the name of their fallen brother and I am glad that it is so. This record contains 13 songs. All of the song are brutal, fast paced, energetic punkrock experience. If I must compare this band to some other it would be like the power of Black Flag, the daring of Dead Kennedys and the energy of Zeke packed into one highly addictive package. I can only imagine how great this songs sound live. The lyrics are in English language, as I understand them personal but with a twist of irony and humour thrown in for good measure. I recommend this record because it is awesome.

(record review)The Wingman-Sleeping Eyes(This Is Core)

The Wingman recently released their new e.p. via This Is Core and I listened and reviewed this record for our zine.

This band is based in Vicenza area, Italy and it started in 2015. This is their debut e.p. and it contains five songs of alternative indie post punk/rock with some poppy and emo influences. This means highly melodic songs and heartfelt lyrics completed with skillfull musicianship. This band is mixing postpunk, indie and alternative influences with some melodic pop and they do it well. This e.p. is great to listen when you want to relax from the blastbeats and more extreme music styles and you just want to chill and listen to some quality melodic and calmer music. There is an easy atmosphere all throughout this record and it is best for you to put your headphones on, lie down, listen to this record and forget about the world for half an hour. Best songs for me are Karpathos and Smells Like Alcohol.

(record review)SUICIDAL TENDENCIES-STill Cyco Punk After All These Years(Suicidal Records)

The legendary Suicidal Tendencies have a new, 13-th studio record out and I listened and reviewed it for our zine.

Well, in fact it is not really a brand new record musicwise, but a rerecording of the singer˙s Mike Muir solo album from 1996.called Lost My Brain(Once Again), minus two songs. The album contains 11 songs of a crazy mixture between punkrock and hardcore with crossover with Muir˙s trademark unmistakable voice on top of the songs and the guy sounds better than ever like he hasn˙t aged a minute through all these years. My favorite songs on this record are F.U.B.A.R., Lost My Brain and All I Ever Get. The album title is a game of words regarding the old album Still Cyco After All These Years which contained legendary tracks from the first and second album re-recorded. The cover reminds a bit of The Exploited logo and album covers, hehe. Mike Muir gathered an excellent musician crew  in the current incarnation of the band with legendary ex Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and long time Infectious Grooves member Dean Pleasents, so the band is very tight and the energy just flows from my speakers while listening to this record. Good one.
