(review) Deimos’ Dawn – ‘Anthem Of The Lost’
German metal scene is strongest in the world and this is relatively new band but its members have been around in the scene for a long time. Deimos’ Dawn released their brand new opus. This band is fronted by none other than extreme metal veteran singer Marc Grewe(ex-Morgoth, Insidious Disease), but this time is not death metal, but thrash metal in its great form. This opus contains twelve songs of thrash metal mayhem done as only Teutonic Thrash Metal bands can do. The music is a perfect mixture of old school German thrash metal with darkened atmosphere, hint of melody in guitar solos and a bit more modern thrash metal with some tempo changes and a bit of groove. Marc’s vocals are a bit different, not only death metal growling, but also thrash metal shouting and also singing, so it only shows again how talented singer Marc is. Songs and heavy hitters like ‘The Final Illusion’, Too Much Pain Is Not Enough’ or ‘Deathstar Spangled Banner’ are sure to make you pump your fist in the air and wish to be in moshpit at these guys gig. Great album for Euro thrash scene.

(review) Crownshard – ‘Awareness’
Italian extreme metal scene is vast and fantastic and I am always glad when I discover some new bands and projects from our neighboring country. Crownshard are hailing from Italy, and this is their new opus containing five songs. The music of Crownshard can be described as death metal, it is technically fantastic and tight, but there is more to their music than just that. Lyrically, Crownshard deal with real themes, like depression, death and perdition, raising awareness about ourselves and thus enabling us to fight our inner demons when we need to fight to survive and stay alive in this ever moving today’s world. Besides pummeling death metal with many tempo changes and grooves mixed with blast beats, there are also couple of really fine melodies played with thrash metal and classic heavy metal influence here and there, bordering the music of this band with melodeath. Vocals are growls but quickly changing between screams and more snarling anger and despair, not your usual death metal grunts. My personal favorites are ‘There Is Nothing Left’ and ‘Mankind Has Failed’, but all of the songs are quality death metal played with conviction.
