(recor review)ISHWARA-Violence Before Quiet

Italian underground scene gives new releases every single day, this time I listened and reviewed for this zine the new e.p. by Ishwara.

Ishwara are melodic hardcore/skatepunk band from Venice lagoon area, Italy. This new record contains 6 songs of melodic punk with hardcore influences just made for skating along or enjoying your sunny day. I love the fast, energetic melody and anthemic chorus of Can You Stop Me and these guys really can handle their instruments well. The musicianship is tight, the fast parts along with more mid tempo punkrock parts are nice interwined in the song structures, so there are absolutely no boring parts throughout the whole e.p. The lyrics of the songs are all in English language so you can easily follow what Ishwara are singing about. The lyric themes are more on the personal side of things. Also, I absolutely love the Stranger Things hommage on the cover of the record so, this e.p. is total hit. Check out another jewel in the crown of the mighty Italian underground hardcore punk scene.

NOFX are back with the second installment of their legendary 7” of the Month Club. Get ready to get your mitts on brand new NOFX songs that no one else has heard before! As you may have picked up via the NOFX socials, they’ve been recording with the legend, Bill Stevenson (uh, Descendents), and have racked up a massive amount of material. While they continue to tinker away, you will be treated to a preview of what may or may not land on their new album. We’re not even sure what songs they’ll give us; but we do know the club will feature alternate/demo versions of the recordings. Each 7” will be pressed on colored vinyl and will ship two at a time to help ease shipping costs, especially for our friends overseas!

As for the art, once again, they’re relying on you, their loyal followers, to provide the cover art. So, dust off those crayons and get to work! The 12 winning artists will receive a free subscription to the club…not to mention bragging rights to their friends. The details for artwork submissions can be found here!

Now that you are all caught up, watch Fat Mike do a more entertaining, less detail-oriented job of explaining the 7″ of the Month Club below, and then order yours today!

(record review)The Ayilar-Sokaktan Hikayeler(Prof Sny Records)

Ladies and gentlemen, the readers of our zine, now it is time for a band from the country not often represented in our zines, namely Turkey. The Ayilar are oi/streetpunk band from Turkey and I listened and reviewed their new record out on Prof Sny Records from Czech Republic.

The name of the album means Street Stories in Turkish language. The album was recorded in Istanbul, mixed and mastered in Germany and Czech Republic. This record contains 14 songs plus bonus and intro/outro. The lyrics are in Turkish language, and the themes are beer, there are no language barriers for the song titles like 1000 lt Bira or Bira ve sokaklar. But, this band also has serious political themes singing about the harsh life under current regime there for example the excellent song Uyan(Wake up) talks about the events that took place in Gezi Park. Also antifascist skinhead lyrics are themes in the songs of The Ayilar. Music is more melodic version of oi/streetpunk with some ska parts, sometimes reminding me of Italian bands like Los Fastidios or FFD, meaning melodic guitars, anthemic choruses just made for singalong and I love this album because this album is the proof that music really has no boundaries, borders and no regime, no matter how ugly or oppressive can stop the mind and body in search of freedom and better life. If you like this record, check out the other stuff at Prof Sny Records, they have great music on their label. Links are below.
